Does anyone know the real reason WKA tossed Van Gilder and Jerry Cole from Daytona other than they promote AKRA?
I spoke to a couple of guys who were really upset that they tossed Gilder, he was there to help them with setup and tuning.
The guy I know said nothing went on that he saw, they just came up to him after practice, with security, and asked him to leave, and don’t come back.

Ian,
there are no reed jets in WKA sprint or Piston port sprint {AKRA}
guys have done very well with the Yamaha in the class so if your set up is good and you tune well you will be very competitive in the class. You get a pretty good weight break so make sure your sprinter is as light as possible.
you will want to add a floor pan to your sprinter.Eric

It is usually one of the biggest races of the season. Tons of track time.
AKRA is the sanctioning body, same one that insures you at NHKA. AKRA has a very cool practice procedure, if its not too crowded they will do an open practice. If it has a lot of people the break it down to two groups, and so on depending on how many karts. It may not seam like a big deal but if you are making changes and just want to run a lap or two and make another change you have the ability to try tons of stuff in a short amount of time.Last year i believe they had more entry’s than Daytona. In the Piston Port Sprint class there were 17 entry’s.
What are you planning on putting on that sprinter for power?

Why wouldn’t you go to Mid Ohio this year?
Dart Kart Club puts on a great program and Mid Ohio is one of the best track that is offered to us.Eric

Tim,
Looks pretty good. What is Teflon tape for? Hope you didn’t use it in your braking system.
Seat looks very high and possible behind the axle? Most enduros don’t have a bottom to their seats because they are so low. Keep in mind aero and frontal area is critical with enduro’s. Looks like your nerf bars are way above the top of your tires. This will make your body sit very high.Keep us posted.

If you missed this weekend you missed one of the best racing weekends of the season. Turnout was very strong, Piston Port sprint had over 12 entries with the top 5 less than a second apart in lap times.
We didn’t see any major issues with the turn at the end of the oval, may have been a little slow on the exit but we had three or four laps in a row where we were three wide heading into the turn.
The split between classes should have been a little more, we caught the tail end of the first class on the first lap which causes a pile up.
Thank you MKC and your team for a great weekend,

Carolina Motorsports Park officials will offer open practice on Friday, March 18 as a part of the inaugural AKRA Vega Tire Road Race / American Sprint Cup doubleheader event March 18-20.
CMP and AKRA officials will open the 2.3-mile road course for practice at 8AM and it will run throughout the day until 5PM, giving racers a great opportunity to get track time before racing Saturday and Sunday.
Each kart will have to pass AKRA pre-tech before entering the track.
The practice fee will be $100 pre-entry or $125 at the track. Practice pre-registration will be separate from AKRA race registration. CMP is working to post Friday practice registration on MotorsportReg.com. We will announce when the page is live.
A three- or four-day AKRA wristband will be required to enter the gate Thursday or Friday. Road Race practice participants will be given a separate wristband (included in the practice fee) that they will need to display when entering the track on Friday.
The track will be open to park beginning at noon Thursday.

Loos like the fixed their website to show correct dates. I am sure they will run the “AKRA” open practice like they have at other races so we should have enough practice time to get all those motors broken in and ready.
Does anyone know how the garages work at Kershaw?
I didn’t see that on the entry sheet.

Another great event put on by Woodbridge Kart club. Rodney and his crew performed flawlessly as usually. Weather was spectacular, the reworked practice schedule made for a ridiculous amount of track time on Friday. All of the races we off without a hitch.
The Summit Point track continues to hold up and be a blast to drive.

Does anyone know when WKA will release their Road Racing schedule?
In years past we knew around the first of the year.
Do they plan on replacing the Dart races?
