Dear Karters, Teams, Sponsors & Parents-

We apologize for the late notice on this but would like to inform you that we are unable to offer overnight camping for the 2015 season. We have been working to resolve this issue with CalSpeed for the past two weeks. Unfortunately, an insurance liability agreement with CalSpeed could not be reached. Essentially our camping fees would increase 300 percent per month to provide the liability coverage needed for an overnight stay. There is no insurance for LAKC on Saturday night so we cannot be liable and CalSpeed is not offering a viable solution to resolve this. Keep in mind that LAKC just received the 2015 contract from CalSpeed on 2/11/15. With no other kart track able to accommodate our series, our hands are tied here and we wish there was a better outcome available.

LAKC is responsible for the track starting at 6:30am on Sunday. LAKC has nothing to do with Saturday practice except providing staff to help with the pit parking. That is the reason you pay CalSpeed for Saturday and not LAKC.

You may want to forward you feelings toward CalSpeed as we have always only rented the track for Sunday. We are only a tenant and do not set the rules. CalSpeed informed us that they plan on closing the gates on Saturday at 6:00pm. This will be enforced by CalSpeed Staff.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. You will still however be able to leave your trailers/equipment there overnight.

Since we have already budgeted monies for camping fees in 2015, we will be distributing those funds at each month’s race event, to you the racers. That will add over $30,000 that has already been announced. http://www.lakc.org/results/168-2012-cash-prize-details
