In 18 years of racing I’ve only heard of 1 chain ever breaking on a shifter kart. It sure is a lot easier using a master link. Just make sure you always check your chain tension isn’t too loose.
Taylor YoungParticipantWeird, Like I mentioned before I use one just fine, Righetti Ridolfi parts cost less than OTK too.
Taylor YoungParticipantIf you’re into the facebook stuff the Sonoma kart track has a facebook page that is constantly updated. https://www.facebook.com/SRW.PKC
The Redline oil series has some good racing too. Stock Moto and Rotax.

Taylor YoungParticipantI’d contact a Tony Kart dealer. A lot of of them are busy this week with supernationals but I’m sure they could help you out with it.
Taylor YoungParticipantI have a Tony Kart EVR and EVRR and I use a Righetti Ridolfi 3 liter tank just fine. It fits just fine. I added a little bit bigger spacer on the bolt between the tank and the rail but that’s it.
September 27, 2014 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Anybody close to San Jose, CA that I can learn from/go to the track with? #34556Taylor YoungParticipantIf you’re in San Jose you should go down to Cambrian Karts. They’re a great group of people and could help you out. The closest club to you is Monterey Bay Karters. There’s also several in the Sacramento area and central valley. Kinsmen, Blue Max, Atwater, Kerman, Prairie City, and a race series up at the Sonoma Raceway called Redline Oil series.
September 15, 2014 at 11:09 am in reply to: 2003 Trackmagic Diablo 125cc Chassis – What Fuel Tank? #33764Taylor YoungParticipantThe picture you saw that goes through the uprights is most likely a cadet. They used a pretty standard Reghetti Ridolfi tank from what I remember, you probably just need a smaller tank than what is on the kart. The person that would know for sure is Greg at Leading Edge Motorsports, they were a pretty prominent TrackMagic dealer.
Taylor YoungParticipantTaylor YoungParticipantAgreed. This site is mostly race write ups and press releases. It would be nice to see some more content related to the state of karting in the US, how changes in Europe could effect us (new engines, new front bumper etc), interviews with drivers, tech articles, etc. I’ve been even hearing for a few years now about how there was going to be an article about all of the newer US kart manufacturers but never saw it. I visit this site every day, most of the time it’s only for a second because the newest article is about a race that I have no interest in. I’m sure advertising dollars would increase if there was more content to keep readers on pages longer so it would be worth the investment.
Taylor YoungParticipantupdated pricing. willing to ship anywhere in US mainland for $200 additional cost.

Taylor YoungParticipantCan be sold with a briggs world formula package for $2,400
Taylor YoungParticipantI understand that relationship. I think it’s a perfect marriage. CIK is good at rule structure and governing the races, WSK is good at event organization, promotion etc.
Taylor YoungParticipantJust from listening to this event it sounded like there was a lot of issues with either rough driving or stupid driving. A lot of red flags, spin outs and off track situations. I wasn’t there, but that’s my impression from write ups and descriptions. There seems to be a lack of direction and culture for clean and smart driving in US karting. I’ve watched CIK/WSK events and although they are not without incident they seem to be overall more professional when it comes to racing on the track. The only thing I can think of for why this is, is that most of these events are run as a promoter/event organizer (which they do very well) and not as a governing body.
It’s almost the opposite of when I first started racing with IKF years ago. It was all about the rules and rule book and less about the promotion of the event and sport. If only there was a happy medium.
Sorry if this seems out of left field, just a though from reading the above situation and my observations of the event.
May 6, 2014 at 10:14 am in reply to: suggestions for carb/pipe for aircooled vortex rotary fa engine #26964Taylor YoungParticipantIf you have a header already on the engine almost any pipe used for a tag engine will work. As far as the carb not sure since I’m not as familiar with the rotary style FA engines. I think this forum you’ll find many people that could help you out with this question: http://www.karting1.co.uk/forum/
Taylor YoungParticipantThere’s a few companies out there that make generic kart graphics for that style of body work.

These ones look pretty cool http://www.accelerationkarting.com/accelerationnewagedecalkit-1.aspx
Taylor YoungParticipantI ran YDS tires for years, we used much higher pressure than softer compounds. I’d go for 22-24 pounds hot.
Taylor YoungParticipantOn mylaps it shows placing 16th but now I noticed he had the lowest total time so I stand corrected. Should be exciting, I wish I could watch.
Taylor YoungParticipantLamb had some fast times at DKC Texas Prokart race over the weekend but couldn’t finish on top. Not sure what the story is but things will be interesting this weekend.
Taylor YoungParticipantwhat size is the tony kart suit
Taylor YoungParticipantPriced to sell. Make me an offer.
Taylor YoungParticipantThe Americans have an advantage with this engine package and I’m sure some have put more time in at this track so anything is possible. I wonder if this means they’ll be running the full pro tour along with running S1 at the Supernationals. I’m interested to see how things play out.
