Tryng to get there to at least help administer the event. Probably not running as I don’t have the needed parts yet. I’m trying to fabricate some bushings for my wallowed out rotor carriers to see if I can get one more run out of them till parts arrive. The rotors were flopping around so bad at Thunderhill my wrist still hurts from the massive vibration.

And yes I like running with Mr Fanning too. Us old farts need to stick together!

Unfortunately a visor is an expendable piece of equipment. If you cant afford to replace the high dollar version then run a cheaper one. While its nice to look good, looks never won a motor race. Spend a limited budget on what makes you fast. Not what makes you look good.

Friday practice will be available. It will be run by the track.

Costs are $75 to join Willow Springs membership (fee good for all year), $75 per kart and $75 per driver. First time total $225. I believe it will rotate in 20 or 30 minute sessions. Should be more than enough track time available.

    You been drinkin’ Larry????

Really though, cut and paste doesn’t seem to work with the outstanding “new” technology of this forum. At some point it was explained how to do it. Personally I just don’t even bother anymore.

Is it too rich? That will cause it to sign off early so to speak. Be careful tuning though if you are unsure of how much to adjust. Easy to stick if it gets too lean.

Before you have any made you might check with Terry Ives 916-201-7707 and see if he has any.

I’m thinking Merle was computer challenged and was actually entering Chris but came up as himself. Either way we have an Abbas entered. I’ve also heard of a few World Formulas coming down from the Shasta Kart club too.

The new forums suck. You can easily tell by the number of posts and the fact that most of the very knowledgeble people from the old forum rarely if ever participate.

Too bad, it was a great resource, but sadly no longer.

There is really only 4 groups. The other 4 were created to allow a second entry at each event. Instead of racing once you got to race twice in 2 different classes. For example Superstock CR125 is the same Group as W/C superstock. It’s just there second entry.

Another example would be Yamaha Light and Yamaha heavy. Same guys race in both.

Could the 4 125 groups be whittled down some? I would think so but that would be up to the racers in those classes to figure out how without chasing people off. Aside from the fairing the biggest difference is the Formula classes allow ICC’s and modified 125’s while the CR125 classes are more “spec”

I would think a good Walbro would be good regardless of what it was put on in comparison to a marginal one.

Like Walt said. If the pulse hole is not blocked by the gasket on either side of the reed block and the pumper side is of the carb is right it should pump fuel. If you had the carb gasket or reed cage out it’s pretty easy to put the gasket on and backwards and block the hole. Been there done that. The hole were talking about is a small 1/16″ or so hole. The gaskets have a matching hole and so does the base of the carb. Start there.

To choke it take the air cleaner off. Cover the mouth of the carb with your palm. Have someone crank it over and watch the fuel lines. It may take a little bit to pump up. Your hand should get wet with fuel to the point of flooding the engine. If you get no fuel with it choked there are few options, blocked fuel pick up or line, air leak somewhere (but I’d think it’s still going to pump up something being choked), carb inlet needle is not opening or the diaphragms are installed wrong.

While the carb is of you can easily pull the reed cage to inspect them too.

All this is based on the fact that you have compression. No compression and you get little if any pulse to the carb fuel pump.

I read a good quote somewhere back in the day. Might have been the book about Mark Donahue. Anyways it was something to the effect of:

“Horsepower sells motor cars, torque wins motor races”

I’ve always believed a motor with good torque in the right range is better than a little more horsepower in a very narrow range which I believe is how most opens are.

Make sure the spacer is on correctly. It’s tapered to fit the little curve on the shoulder of the crank. If thats right than you either need a thinner spacer or the hubs cracked. I’ve seen one cracked in the keyway area before. Probably due to over tightening.

You are going to get a lot of responses both ways. Lots of people will tell you the chassis won’t flex. I can tell you that I have won many roadraces in the past with a shot filled chassis. On a full size kart it was worth about 12-14 lbs if I remember correctly. It’s not to difucult to try at the very least.

The Sonoma race will have no limits on karts as usual and will be open to all.

We are still working on Laguna details. There is a limit imposed upon us on the total number of karts allowed. Priority will go to paid yearly members first as they are the ones who support the club on a regular basis. If that does not fill the field we will open it up to others. We wish it was our day and we had more control. Unfortunately we dont and this is the fairest way to do it for our members.

Laguna has a 92 db limit. Willow Springs has no limit I’m aware of or we’ve ever had a problem with.

Both events will have a limit on the number of karts that can run the event.

John 92db is what we have had to meet both years we had our own standalone day. The ALMS weekends for the 250’s were unlimited. Last year we had 3 people bounced for noise. 2-250’s and a Yamaha. The yamaha made no attempt at all at quieting his down.

As for limits Laguna will have a definite kart limit. This was something that came together very quickly and at the last minute. We are still working to iron out all the details.

Willow Springs events will also have kart limits but they will be much easier to deal with.

I use the same sensor on my Rotax 250 and just wrap some pipe tape around it. Never had a problem.

I have to agree on the take off route. If and when you feel like it’s time to race you can look into a new set.
