Greg WrightParticipant
Gee, give it a rest. I already said that I had misunderstood your post and apologized for it.
Damn!!
Greg WrightParticipantLynn, Those are the official reasons given and there’s no doubt that they are accurate.
I can’t help but wonder if the decreasing popularity of TAG at the local level isn’t having some effect as well. In the past this race had plenty of “National” type teams and drivers but it was widely supported by the local TAG community that has dwindled very noticeably over the last few years.
Greg WrightParticipantVery lucky guy there Jeremy, that could have been uglier.
Greg WrightParticipantYeah kudos to MKC on a well run event. however surely there is a better solution to slowing the karts down turning into the infield besides the walking speed autocross layout that was used. Not bitching, just saying.
Greg WrightParticipantI thought he told me 50 clutches but either way it’s pretty much the same thing.
The Horstman news surprised me in a good way.
Greg WrightParticipantNo insult was intended in any way, sorry you took it that way.
One question though, you say it was $2500 then you say it wasn’t $2500. I guess my reading comprehension is lacking somewhere.
Greg WrightParticipantGreat news. Now if we could get Tom Fehring to jump in as well.
Greg WrightParticipantStill high.
Greg WrightParticipantDaniel White, You paid $2500 to rebuild a Yamaha, I would have built you two new ones for that amount of money. They must have seen you coming.
Greg WrightParticipantAccording to AKRA’s Bill McCutcheon the final total on entries was over 500, the best in many years.
The pairing of AKRA, CES and the Dart Kart group obviously paid dividends. I heard a little grousing from a few folks but that’s always to be expected. The weather was perfect if a little hot, most everyone seemed to have a good time, how does it get better than that?
I hadn’t raced at Mid-Ohio in 13 years and hadn’t run a laydown in over 15 years but somehow swept the Vintage races both days. Still buzzing from a great weekend.
Greg WrightParticipantYou have to run a specific brake pad with aluminum rotors. Me? I wouldn’t use them.
Greg WrightParticipantDefinitely a Margay, can’t see the axle clutch well enough to ID.
Greg WrightParticipantHonestly I don’t think so.
Greg WrightParticipantThe rub comes with identifying what constitutes a “brake check”. It’s very hard to prove when the offender is just going to say “I let off, hit the brakes and he nailed me from behind!!”
Unless totally blatant it’s a hard call to make, not supporting the practice but I doubt it will stop.
Greg WrightParticipantI believe that IKF installed that rule a few years ago.
Greg WrightParticipantActually I think they are looking for air leaks. On engines with restricted carburetion example Yamaha Jr, Sportsman with the WB55 carb and also with Comer K-80s some builder have intentionally leaked air to the engine via intake manifold or crank seals. More air=more fuel+more power. They can be a bitch to start though.
Greg WrightParticipantThanks for the reply, I had already found my answer.
Greg WrightParticipantJ.R. So much of kart racing is comprised of short timers that have no idea who Jim Murley was. What a shame, Jim certainly tried his hardest. RIP Jim.
Greg WrightParticipantI have Xeramic in stock.
Greg WrightParticipantThat is three karting figure heads in about three weeks. Tough times, RIP Ron.
Greg WrightParticipantHDC-4
Greg WrightParticipantNo offense to the Woltjers but the dyno numbers that they publish are way optimistic compared to any others that I have seen. Pipe is much quicker regardless of the dyno numbers.
Greg WrightParticipantIf the box is programmed to suit stock porting etc, you should see some gain. However it won’t be the same curve as used on the mod moto.
Greg WrightParticipantI have a new speed collar on hand and maybe a used one as well.
Greg WrightParticipantLet’s get started.
