Britt RobinsonParticipant
“I’m new to karting and I hope this is going to be a candidate to get started racing. I know its not up to date but is there anything that would prevent me from racing with it?”
Once you get your brakes fixed there’s no reason you couldn’t find a track and go racing. I’ve been fairly competitive in a ’98 Trackmagic w/modified Honda for the past 3 1/2 seasons. Sometimes 2nd, sometimes 8th. But that’s usually the driver’s fault…
Britt RobinsonParticipantIt would be interesting to find out, Rob. Though take a look at Gold Cup rule #11: http://nwgoldcup.com/uploads/info_links/2015GC%20Rules%202-25-15.pdf
(Sorry, I couldn’t figure out how to properly link…)
Britt RobinsonParticipantJust an observation, but if the IKF is still the governing body in which the NW Gold Cup is raced under, why are there so many competitors not wearing neck protection as required by IKF rules?

Good luck to you and your kart club, John!
September 15, 2014 at 12:45 pm in reply to: 2003 Trackmagic Diablo 125cc Chassis – What Fuel Tank? #33856Britt RobinsonParticipantThat looks like the same one I have on my ’99 Diablo. You have to drop the floor pan to remove it.
Britt RobinsonParticipantWhere are you located?
Britt RobinsonParticipantI WANT THE TRUTH!
Britt RobinsonParticipantI think Northern California and Southern Oregon are keeping 80cc racing on life support. Obviously they scrounged up enough karts to make a “championship” class. It was killing me to open my Race Monitor app. and see 4-6 karts competing.
Our club races regularly have 10-15 shifters but when the IKF Gold Cup rolls through here there are maybe 5-6 running. That includes the two locals that show up… I will say this, the Can-Am Series has diluted the fields here in the NW. There aren’t enough racers to keep two regional series healthy.
Britt RobinsonParticipantYou should’ve taken your 80 and made it a whopping 6 competitors in that category…
Britt RobinsonParticipant“I’m a big Guy.300 in full dress. Does that change your view on the engine choice or axle size?”
I’m not sure a Chonda OR an LO206 would be good for you based on your body weight. In my opinion, a two stroke, like the PRD Fireball, might be better for you. I think you would be quickly frustrated with the lower performance of those 4 cycle engines, even when you are just running laps for fun.
Britt RobinsonParticipantHave you ever looked at SGM? They seem to be gaining a strong foothold here in the NW. (Just an observation. I race a Honda.)

Britt RobinsonParticipantJames! I should’ve bought your cylinder and cylinder head when I had the chance. I snoozed AND lost on that one…
February 25, 2014 at 12:00 pm in reply to: What form of engine did you begin your karting career with? #22718Britt RobinsonParticipantHarbor Freight clone. Raced that for 3 years. Now happily starting my 3rd year of shifting.
Britt RobinsonParticipantNo live audio today?
Britt RobinsonParticipantIs that Elvis Stojko the figure skater I see running S4?
Britt RobinsonParticipantWhatever you do, don’t mount the GoPro on the top of your helmet. You’ll look like just another Teletubbie character…
