Yes it is normally flush with the pin but what you are looking for is about .010 crank endplay installed in the crankcase  so if is in spec flush you are good to go.

Thanks for the reply Glenn,

Is there any way to check the end play without putting the case back together?  I suppose I could measure from the outside of the bearing pocket to where the case mates together on both case halves and compare it with my crank width.

I’m still curious as to what the actual dimension is or a range/tolerance for the crank width based on your experience.

The stock tm part measures 1.988. some aftermarket pins can be slightly different. They also have different holes in the center I like the solid pin as it stuffs the crankcase a little more. There is a custom pin from italy that has a hole in the middle to get more oil to bearing, haven`t got one of those yet.
