The second season of the Briggs & Stratton 206 Cup presented by Noram Racing will begin at a track that has been synonymous with 4-Cycle racing in the Midwest – the Briggs & Stratton Raceway Park located in Dousman, Wisconsin. The June 20-21 event will follow the same formula that the series proved works last year; affordable prices equals great racing. The Briggs & Stratton 206 Cup is forecasted to host the largest 206 fields in the Midwest.

As its name implies, the 206 Cup is a series dedicated to Briggs’ most recent innovation, the Local Option 206 Racing Engine. Featuring a sealed short block and a price tag under $600, the power plant has reinvigorated 4-Cycle karting throughout the country. And as this growth as spread, so has the desire from racers to compete at a higher level than their home track may provide.

After a successful test season in 2014, series organizers were inundated with emails and messages supporting their endeavor.  They were also contacted by Briggs Animal racers whom were looking for a series to travel with. So for 2015, the 206 Cup has added Animal Sportsman, Junior and Senior classes to the entire schedule. Kid Karts with either Comer or Briggs engines are also welcomed to attend all the events in the 206 Cup schedule, although they are not considered a competition class.

One big change for 2015 is the rules package. As many racers know, there are so many rulebooks used throughout the country, which can make it difficult to travel from track to track without having to spend extra money to comply with a new series’ rules. For 2015, the 206 Cup has developed its own ruleset that should eliminate this problem for the majority of racers. Initial responses to the rules package has been so good, that TAG USA has endorsed the rulebook, and many other clubs have reached out to series organizers for permission to use the book themselves at their local club. The rulebook is free and available for download via the series website.

With all the attention this series has been getting, the competition level should be intense. Christian Franchuk (Margay) will be returning to defend his 2014 title in the 206 Sportsman class, as well as competing in the newly formed Animal Sportsman class. 2014 206 Junior champion Hunter Daymond (Coyote) has elected to move up to the and compete in the biggest class, the Faster Motors 206 Senior division leaving no defending champion in any of the Junior classes. Competition will be stiff for him in 206 Senior, as returning champion Jordan Bernloehr (BirelArt) looks to defend his title against the largest field of any class in the 206 Cup Series.

And although series organizers wouldn’t mention any names, they did hint that they are expecting some rather big names in the karting world to make appearances both on track and in the paddock at Dousman as well as the other three races on the 2015 schedule.

If you are looking for some great competition that anybody can afford, you need to check out the 206 Cup. Preregistration will remain open until June 15, in which series organizers are offering a $15 discount off the already ridiculously low entry fee of $110 for both Saturday and Sunday’s races. Badger Kart Club will be hosting an open practice session on Friday, June 19 for all series competitors to come to grips with the track that many of them have never seen before. Reserved pit spots are available, but every event on the 206 Cup calendar has plentiful free pit spots available. Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21 are scored as separate race days, with practice sessions beginning at 10am.
