American Kart Manufacturers Inc. Launches Paul Tracy Kart Chassis Line with 2003 CART Champion Paul Tracy

New American-made line pairs liveries from Tracy’s open-wheel career with a mentorship path from karting to open-wheel racing

American Kart Manufacturers Inc. (AKM) today announced the launch of its newest chassis brand, Paul Tracy Kart (PTK), developed in partnership with 2003 CART champion Paul Tracy. The PTK line debuts with two liveries honoring Tracy’s CART career, along with a driver development program built to help karters prepare for the move into open-wheel racing.

PTK chassis are manufactured by AKM in-house at its Phoenix, Arizona facility. The line launches with two color schemes inspired by the high points of Tracy’s open-wheel career: the Red Concept, a tribute to his years with Team Penske, and the Blue Concept, which celebrates his 2003 championship season with Forsythe Racing.

Tracy’s role goes well beyond lending his name to the brand. He will lead AKM’s development driver evaluations and work directly with AKM management on commercial and manufacturing decisions as the brand grows. PTK also gives top karting drivers a structured, in-house program at AKM to help them transition into junior open-wheel categories.

“I’m excited to bring the PTK brand back to karting in partnership with American Kart Manufacturers,” said Tracy. “Karting is where my racing career began, and teaming up with an American manufacturer that shares my passion for performance, quality and developing the next generation of racers makes this partnership special. Our goal is to build more than just great karts. We want to create a pathway for young drivers to succeed in motorsports.”

“Bringing Paul Tracy and the PTK brand into the AKM family expands what we build here in Phoenix,” said Justin Sefani, President of AKM. “Paul’s involvement in our operations and in driver development strengthens our commitment to building competitive, American-made chassis for the global market.”

PTK chassis will make their first trackside appearance at SKUSA SuperNationals 29 in Las Vegas, Nov. 11-15. Orders will open for select single-speed and shifter categories through AKM’s dealer network ahead of the 2027 season. AKM will announce the drivers racing PTK chassis at the SuperNationals in the coming weeks.

Headquartered in Phoenix, American Kart Manufacturers Inc. (AKM) designs and builds competition kart chassis and racing hardware for its portfolio of brands, including Factory Karts, FZ Shifter, CompKart and Paul Tracy Kart (PTK). AKM supports karting drivers across North America and in international competition.

Paul Tracy won the 2003 CART championship and 31 Indy car races across CART and Champ Car competition, driving for teams including Team Penske, Team Green and Forsythe Racing. Before moving to cars, the Ontario native won the Canadian Senior Karting Championship twice. Through Paul Tracy Kart, Tracy leads driver development, chassis evaluation, and mentorship for AKM.
