The inaugural Cup Karts North America Canadian 4-Cycle Nationals took place over the May 15-17 weekend at the Académie TAG Karting facility. Over 200 drivers from all over North America gathered at the Mont-Tremblant, Quebec facility to compete in the seven Briggs & Stratton 206 categories for a chance to be the first-ever event winners. Incredible weather for the three days of on track action, featuring a full day of practice on Friday. Qualifying and two rounds of heat races took place Saturday before the main events were held on Sunday.

The largest category of the weekend was Senior Light, featuring 78 drivers. Sebastian Day (Stehle / Birelart) was the driver to lead the way in qualifying with a time of 1:02.712. That was enough to edge out Nicholas Capilongo (PPK / Coyote) by 88 thousandths with Christopher Wakefield (PPK / Coyote) a close third with Quintin Murdoch (TWR / LGK) rounding out the fast four. The class was then split up into two groups for heat races. Wakefield was able to take the win in both Group A heats. The first was by 74 thousandths over Day and then by over two seconds in the second heat. Major Makovskis (REM / Kosmic) was the provisional winner in Heat One for Group B but a tram line penalty promoted Murdoch to the win. Makovskis was again the provisional winner in Heat Two, this time handed a two position penalty for contact while scrubbing tires. This put Dylan Reny (Birelart) to the win. When they combined the points, Wakefield was joined on the front row by Owen McCarthy (Prime / Birelart) with Murdoch and Day in row two. After leading the opening lap, Wakefield shuffled down the order as McCarthy took over the point. Lap five, McCarthy had a train of drivers slip past while eventually contact at the end of the lap forced him off track and out of the race. Shuffling for the lead took place with Makovskis went to the lead with Day in second. They ran that way until two laps to go when Day pulled the trigger. They continued fighting to the checkered flag with Makovskis reaching the line first by 33 thousandths for the victory. Murdoch slipped past Day for the second spot at the line, separated by only six thousandths. Arnaud Sabourin (HMP / Kart Republic) was fourth after starting sixth with Wakefield recovering to fifth.

The Senior Medium division featured 34 drivers on the weekend with USA driver Christopher Wakefield (PPK / Coyote) at the top of the order after qualifying. A lap of 1:03.465 set the mark to clear the field by over a tenth. After leading the first seven laps in the opening heat, Wakefield ended up second to Sebastian Day (Stehle / Birelart) by 86 thousandths at the line. In Heat Two, Day led seven of the eight laps to hold off Wakefield at the line by 48 thousandths. After getting shuffled back to fourth on the opening lap, Wakefield charged back to the lead by lap five of the 18-lap Final. He led up until two laps to go with Day taking the lead as the white flag waved. Over the final lap, Wakefield was able to reclaim the top spot and cross the line as the provisional winner. Wakefield was given two penalties, dropping him to fourth in the final order and promoted privateer driver William Adams (Exprit) to the victory. Day settled for second with John Wade (Stealth) classified third ahead of Wakefield. Mindy Croteau (Birelart) completed the top five.

The Junior field featured 50 drivers, led in qualifying by Robert Tronchi Jr. (Savaglio / Birelart). A lap of 1:03.716 was better by 66 thousandths to the time set by Hudson Jack Urlin (Stealth). After the field was split up into two groups for the heat races, neither were able to grab a win as it was four different drivers taking the top spot. Privateer Cole Campin (Birelart) and Jackson Corbett (Prime / Birelart) came out of the opening round of heats with a win while William Rossetti (BCR / Kosmic) and Antoine Bazinet (Point / CompKart) took the wins in the second round of motos. Campin jumped out to the lead to begin the 18-lap Final with Bazinet trailing. Bazinet took the lead for two laps after the halfway point only to have Campin reclaim the position. On the final circuit, Corbett was able to go from third to first, taking the checkered flag for the victory. Jamie Stewien (Sprinter / Intrepid) came from outside the top 10 on the grid to slip into second on the final circuit, bringing Blake Fregeau (PPK / Coyote) to third. Campin fell to fourth with Bazinet placing fifth.

A sold out Cadet field of 30 drivers battled on the weekend. Max Koutsoukis (CD3 / Kart Republic) put in a lap of 1:04.394 to set the pace in the qualifying session, quicker by over a tenth ahead of Matteo Romeo (TWR / LGK). It was Romeo that showed thew way in the two heat races. A win by over three tenths was followed by a photo finish in Heat Two, winning by five thousandths over Nathan Stockwell (Tony Kart). Over the 18 lap Final, Romeo and Koutsoukis went back and forth for the lead but kept a distance ahead of the rest of the field. At the checkered, Romeo held off Koutsoukis for the provisional win by 63 thousandths. Unfortunately, both they and Zackary Losier (BCR / Birelart) who crossed the line in third were all handed tram line penalties. This promoted Stockwell to the top of the podium for the victory. Ethan Smith (LS / Kart Republic) was moved to second with Romeo third, Koutsoukis fourth and Losier rounding out the top five.

The Senior Heavy and Masters classes ran all but the main event in the same race group, and both categories featured a sweep on the weekend. The 10 driver Senior Heavy field was led by Jason Rothman (Coyote). A time of 1:04.661 was quickest in qualifying before Rothman won both heat races in class. Noah Van Straten (Coyote Canada) and Michael Coggins (KCM / Tony Kart) challenged Rothman in the middle portion of the race. By lap 10, Rothman returned to the lead and led the rest of the distance, holding off Van Straten at the line by 92 thousandths. Coggins was a close third with Joseph Mezin (Kart Republic) and Dalton Watson (Yanko / OTK) making up the top five.

USA driver John Price (Coyote) was the class of the field in Masters, which featured 19 drivers. A lap of 1:04.506 led the way in qualifying by over three tenths. After winning both heat races, Price went on to lead all 18 laps of the Final for the victory, securing the top step of the podium by over five seconds. Patrick Boyer (ROBI Kart) won the battle for second over Mathieu Demers (Kart Republic) with Mathieu Martin (Formula K) and Mike Larouche (Birelart) a close fourth and fifth.

The Legends class featured 17 drivers at the inaugural event. Jamie MacArthur (KartEParts / Gold) set the pace in qualifying with a 1:05.341 lap, edging out Eli Yanko (Yanko / Kosmic) by nine thousandths. Yanko took over for the rest of the event by leading every lap of the two heat races. He followed that by a wire-to-wire performance in the 18-lap Final, holding off MacArthur by 82 thousandths at the line. Stephen Goebel (Coyote) joined them on the podium in third, beating out Daniel Courtemanche (Sodikart) and Sylvain Coulombe (Premier / Tony Kart).

The Cup Karts North America Canada Division is set to kick off on June 26-28 at the Brechin Motorsports Park in Brechin, Ontario. The next major event for CKNA will be the 2026 Summer Nationals, set for July 31-August 2 at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati in Batavia, Ohio.
