Spokane Kart Racing Association: Celebrating 65 Years of Family Fun and High-Speed Thrills, Introducing New Kids’ Program

The Spokane Kart Racing Association (SKRA), a non-profit organization dedicated to the exhilarating sport of kart racing, is excited to celebrate its 65th anniversary this year. Founded in the early 1960s, SKRA has been a cornerstone of the Spokane Valley community, providing a friendly and safe environment for families to enjoy the thrill of kart racing.

With a mission to foster a love for motorsports and develop the skills of drivers of all ages, SKRA offers a variety of racing events and programs designed to cater to both beginners and seasoned racers. SKRA’s kid kart academy is a new program specifically aimed at introducing kids ages 5-7 to the exciting world of kart racing. The program rents out karts for half the season and provides families with the opportunity to learn the basics of kart racing, safety protocols, and essential driving skills, all in a fun and supportive environment.

“Our 65th anniversary is a testament to the passion and dedication of our community,” said Shane Myr, President of the Spokane Kart Racing Association. “We’re excited to celebrate this milestone and all the work we’ve done to inspire the next generation of racers. Our goal is to create a welcoming community where families can come together, have fun, and develop their racing skills in a safe and supportive environment.”

The 2025 racing schedule includes ten club point races, with opportunities for drivers to compete in various classes and earn points towards year-end trophies and championships. SKRA also offers a comprehensive beginner’s guide to help newcomers get started in the sport, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the excitement of kart racing.

In addition to racing events, SKRA is committed to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and the development of essential life skills such as decision-making and stress management. The association’s dedicated team of volunteers works tirelessly to maintain the track and organize events, ensuring a top-notch experience for all participants.
