For nearly two decades, one of the most coveted titles to earn in the United States was the Rotax Grand Nationals crown. What that signaled was one driver in the different age categories was the best ‘Rotaxian’ in the country, and earned their way to represent the Red, White and Blue at the Rotax Grand Finals – the ‘Olympics of Karting’. The prestigious event remains an invitation-only race, set for November with tickets being awarded through the Rotax US Trophy Final to be held at the New Castle Motorsports Park on October 7-9.

The Rotax US Trophy Final is the evolution of the program established by Rotax USA Distributor Race Rotax. Now into the third season, the US Trophy Series East and US Trophy Series West programs provide the regional component of the US Rotax schedule for the season, fed through the local club and track programs at selected facilities across the country. The simplified class structure also helps to build the inner ladder system with the Micro Max, Mini Max, Junior Max, Senior Max and Masters Max providing the five different divisions for ‘Rotaxians’ to compete in, based solely on their age.

Those two programs will be combined for the Rotax US Trophy Final with a total of 12 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals on the line. The championship points from each East and West series have been combined with those racers now competing for an overall championship, and a ticket to the Rotax Grand Finals. Those drivers who competed in both the East and West programs will earn additional points over the US Trophy Final weekend to add to their total from their respective series. The driver with the highest point total in the combined standings in each of the classes will earn a ticket.

In addition to the 5 tickets up for grabs to those involved in the US Trophy Series East and West programs, the US Trophy Final is offering Rotax Grand Finals tickets to ANY driver based on the results of the main events at New Castle Motorsports Park. These tickets are open to drivers from any nationality or previous Rotax competition. This allows competitors from Canada, Mexico and any other country from around the world to compete at the US Trophy Final in addition to any USA driver who has not participated in a US Trophy Series East or West event. These additional tickets will be awarded based on the following:

Mini Max: 1st and 2nd place
Junior Max: 1st place
Masters Max: 1st place
Senior Max: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place

Those drivers who finish second and third place in the Senior Max division will be awarded tickets to compete in the DD2 category at the Rotax Grand Finals. Similar for those drivers in Masters Max who earn a ticket, they compete in the DD2 Masters division.

Unofficial practice is set for Thursday, October 6 run by the NCMP facility. Official practice begins Friday, October 7 and runs until 4pm when qualifying will take place. Saturday will be full of wheel-to-wheel racing with heat races before Prefinal and Final events take place on Sunday, October 9.
