Wade WishneskiParticipantRegarding the Ribtect seat, both the carbon and the standard fiberglass Ribtect, does anyone know the flex of the seat? Is it a soft, medium, or stiff seat?
Wade WishneskiParticipantI agree with Kirt, Eurokart Racing in NJ can get you a MIR suit custom tailored to your specific size needs. Take measurements per the MIR diagram, any colors, and you can easily have a custom made suit. Bob Falcone is the individual and he’ll take care of you!!
Wade WishneskiParticipantWilling to sell the kart separately including the Mychron 4, needs nothing to hit the track. $3700
Wade WishneskiParticipantMy understanding is some of those currently with Rotax’s are switching to X-30 in the off season, just some rumblings i’m hearing? X-30 is gaining momentum, Leopards you can pick up reasonably cheap for a kart motor. Kirt is right in that the Leopard will eventually go away, but it seems to be in a few years since there are many out there. Either way, come out to the Gear Up event this weekend and see how successful this series is and many options to race.
Wade WishneskiParticipantSeptember 18, 19, & 20, go to Millville and see the Gear Up Series, lots of karts!!!
Wade WishneskiParticipantTadas
I am familiar with D-town area, its where I work. Based on your location Millville & Etown are good options for you as is OVRP. Etown is quite rough for sure. With that said, I would suggest you race with F1 Gear UP or NJSS, both series that have a few races a year and usually good kart counts. As for club racing only, OVRP & E Town are both decent options, and Millville has the MidAtlantic races which are basically club races. Again, I believe the Leopard or X30 are your best choices for TAG race classes in this area of the country, IMO. Both are dependable motors and very easy to tune.
Wade WishneskiParticipantIf you’re in the Millville NJ or NJ area, I would suggest a Leopard and race with the F1 Gear Up series. The Formula 125 TAG class has many participants in the events. Leopard motors are dependable, easy to tune, and you can find many of them around. Club races in the NJ & NY area all have Leopard accepted classes. I just got involved in karting in 2015, did my research and opted to buy a kart with a Leopard and also bought a spare Leopard. I live in the Philly suburbs. In this area of the country, X 30’s are around, but Leopards still out number the X-30’s. just some suggestions.
Wade WishneskiParticipantThose tracks listed above are your only options locally. In two weekends, Etown has a night race and Mid Atlantic series race at NJMP both Saturday & Sunday
Wade WishneskiParticipantRadiator is SOLD.
Wade WishneskiParticipantWalt, I did go with a Tag set up last Fall, Leopard. Counts in NJ PA NY region are good in those Leopard classes. Low & High speed needles and your done, simple. Fairly straight forward, still gotta go over the drivetrain parts though, clutch, clutch bearing, chain, sprockets etc. enjoying it!
so I guess I did drink the cool aid?
Wade WishneskiParticipantSize is 16.5″ x 10″ x 2″

Wade WishneskiParticipantAs a potential newbie to karting, let me give you my perspective on the iKart. The kart itself is really great, craftsmanship is great, no issues with the unit itself. I’ve seen it in action and yes it is good. I have no doubt about the quality or its ability to be excellent. I’ve resourced as much as I could about ikart, reviewed pictures on Facebook and other pics that the dealers have sent to me etc etc. I spoken with the few dealers that represent iKart currently and they have been nothing short of wonderful, they have provided me with much information and after speaking with them, have convinced me to consider iKart as a very viable option.
With that being said my only concern is/was that they are new, most parts are made in-house, and the dealer newtwork. Well they are currently working on the parts supply side of things and an online catalog, so the ambiguity surrounding iKart is progressively getting better but the entity is in a push (infancy) mode right now and there are only so many hours in a day to accomplish a big task of putting yourself on the map so to speak. They are working on the media/marketing side of things and again they are pushing forward so I think those in the karting community have to be patient. Two of the dealers I have spoken with are located in my area and race the track(s) I would consider running so I no longer have any issues regarding support and quite frankly iKart appears to be working on the dealer network aspect as well, but again only so much time in the day and quite frankly the two dealers I spoke with offered lots of suggestions, were not forceful & I feel actually iKart made a good decision in associating with those dealers.
Bottom-line is they are new but they also appear to be approaching it in a manner that will bode well for them. They are located in an area already filled with many in the racing industry (various motorsport venues) and the fact that they are a vendor/supplier in the racing community assures me they understand a racers perspective. Granted only time will tell if they succeed but I will tell you they have left an impression on me to give them consideration in my decision making process of purchasing a kart!Just some thoughts.
WW
Wade WishneskiParticipantChris
Thanks for your thoughts. For me, support will be driving the decision making process because I do not have years of experience to reference so support for everything from parts, to adjustments, driving recommendations etc etc is very much an important part of how I proceed. I have considered DR & spoke with a local dealer about one. I’ve also considered the new iKart, spoke with a few dealers who have been excellent, as well as the manufacturer of iKart. I will not make a decision right away, If I proceed I want to feel like I’ve made the best objective decision based upon my needs!
WW
Wade WishneskiParticipantRob
Thanks, yes I have spoke to a few dealers & most have been extremely helpful. Right now I’m trying to gather info from various sources and then I can disseminate the info gained and determine what is consistent info & then better make a good informed decision without regrets.
WW
Wade WishneskiParticipantJohnny is spot on with the horrible gas today. This is why I went the Yamaha eu2000i route, it has a shut off valve and you can run the carb out of fuel. Also, one individual can move the generator.
WW
Wade WishneskiParticipantYamaha eu2000i. I have two of them that are compatible with one another for a combined 4000w (actually/technically a little less). You can get both for about $2000 or $1000 each. I use one the majority of the time for my 24ft enclosed trailer with 3 lights, radio etc. If I need A/C or compressor I use both. They are QUIET!!!! One pull, start right up!
As Jim said, the Honda compact generators are a good bet as well. Quiet & Reliable.
Your needs will be based upon voltage & watt needs. Do your electrical homework and you’ll be fine.

Wade WishneskiParticipantRob
Great insight, this is the type of info I am truly looking for. It confirms some of my knowledge base as well as it adds to it. If I were to buy a new chassis (have a few in mind) but I wanted to get a good used Rotax package, what should I be looking for since I know upgrades/updates have been added to the Rotax through the years. I want to get something that is good from the get go, rather than buy a used Rotax package not realizing I might need some the updates.
Much thanks.
WW
Wade WishneskiParticipantBrian
Thanks for the insight. Question for you, how about the tune of the Rotax, IOW’s it has a main & pilot jet, as well as a needle (various needle tapers??) like a traditional motorcycle carb, is there like a tune sheet on the Rotax, if it were say 80 degrees, you would use XX main, xx pilot jet, & xx needle & clip settings etc and be real close to a proper tune? Or am I way off base on this? Again, my reference point is motorcycle motors etc.
Thanks.
