Hi Paul,  I owned before a 2008 model and 2011 model, you are correct the newer model had the cylinder head in black..

Jeremy,   go to your nearest shop and have them scale the kart,  some shops they will let you use their scales for free ………….

I don’t know if you will get help, but try contacting RDD Motorsports out of Florida… they were there before.

Fines for mechanical failures  (even because of human error )  I don’t agree………

However,  fines for agresive driving should be adopted..   my 2 cents….

+1 on the external starter…………  

However, if you have the cash/talent to throw around, you can replace your brushes as needed.. 

I will stick with the external ..

Funny, I just did the same thing this morning…   A lot easier …

Try This..
Start with the LOW speed needle at 1 1/2 turns when you drive into the track, once you are on the track , open it to 2 or 2&1/4 … but you must do that every time… I do not know the reason behind it.. it just works for me
High is at between 1/4 or 3/8
