Thor MautheParticipant
Thanks for the inputs.
Thor MautheParticipantPrice lowered
Thor MautheParticipantIt got the sport out there in a positive light which is great to see. It’s good for the TV audience to see that this sport is out there. Great place to start from. A suggestion to draw the viewers, other then karters, in would be more detail. Info about areas such as speed of the karts and how the field for Super Sunday came together would be helpful. I think if people realizing that the kids are doing 60-70 mph and it only gets faster per class may help stimulate the public interest more. It looked a lot slower on TV then it really is, unfortunately. Can’t wait for the next episode!!!!!!
Thor MautheParticipantPrice drop to $1800
Thor MautheParticipantPrice updated. Engine is located in Las Vegas. Pictures are available.
Thor MautheParticipantWe ran our MiniMax between 12000 and 12500 RPM last year without any issues and producing good power. We had more issues with heat and loss of power then RPM drop-off.
Thor MautheParticipantFor the Jr class we run pretty open as long as they are all about the same speed. We run Rotax Jr, Fireball, MiniMax and a couple others all in the same group depending on who shows up. Depending on age and what you are running Tim will make adjustments to accommodate so that everyone can run and have fun.
Thor MautheParticipantThanks for the input both Brian and Walt. I actually just accomplished both solutions and both were a player. The caliper was not releasing all the way just as you thought. Took me a bit to even get the pin out while it was mounted and I bled the system again and had some air in it. Hopefully between that and realigning everything on the axle we’re out of the woods. Thanks for all the help.
Thor MautheParticipantThat was a thought I had as well. I was watching and his foot was off the brake. Until two weeks ago we never had a hot brake. I’ll have to put the GoPro on his foot to see.
Thor MautheParticipantStill for sale. Reduced to $110
Thor MautheParticipantAMR puts out a good product. They do the graphics for quite a few guys here in Las Vegas. If you want custom work it’ll run you a bit more but as long as you let them know which body work you’re running, Gary and company will take care of you.
February 9, 2014 at 5:08 pm in reply to: Has anybody used acceleration kart racing to rebuild a rotax? #21255Thor MautheParticipantBeing that AKR is the local shop for us Vegas racers I’m a huge fan of theirs. Curtis and everyone at the shop are great people and will do it right. I was looking at having my son’s Mico fixed there but actually ended up buying a Mini for him since it was going to almost cost just as much. (Long story about that other motor) They know what they are doing. Hell, JD and some of the other are even helping my wife getting my son on track while I’m out of town. They’ll be the only ones I’ll have working on my engine. In my opinion you can’t go wrong.
Thor MautheParticipantI was sitting in the grandstand before the turn where the accident happened and it sounded as bad as it looked. When I left the track after the race this afternoon they announced that he was going to have to have surgery for an unstable situation in his back.
Thor MautheParticipantSoCal is starting a Rotax Challenge for 2014. Looks like it’s growing.

Thor MautheParticipantSorry, the Alpinestars suit has been sold.
Thor MautheParticipantSteve,
Very interesting about the cost. I send you a PM.
Thor MautheParticipantThanks for the info and the PDF from Rotax. Amazing that the Rotax motor isn’t more popular in the US, well at least in the west where I live. Hope the SoCal Rotax series takes off for next year.
Thor MautheParticipantThe one thing that a club race needs more then anything is for it to be FUN! Most people never go past that level of racing and if it isn’t fun then what’s the point. Yes its more fun to run upfront and compete but when it’s not a good fun environment to be in the why would people want to go.
Thor MautheParticipantI’m not a racer, but I am one of the Vegas locals. In my opinion karting doesn’t get the credit in the racing world that it deserves, but I can tell you that from a locals point of view there wasn’t enough exposure in town for the event. Yes, I agree that most of the buzz about Supernats is going to develop on the web. However even in town it wasn’t know that the event was going on. There were no signs, there was no exposure. I know the weather for most of the days didn’t help any. My thing is that I never saw a sign or a billboard in town. Besides some banners in the hotel I didn’t see anything on it. There was no local news or newspaper coverage that I saw to draw people to the event. Why wasn’t there a kart on a stand at the front desk the week of the event that people can look at and ask what that’s all about. I’m sure a manufacturer would fess one up. Get the local guys here in town to help out. My son races locally and we have to do things to get the word out. I went to Coffee and Cars the weekend before and no one there knew about it. For being the “largest karting event” the marketing portion seems to be missing. In this town there are things you can do that aren’t out of the norm. What about the weekend before karts going down the Strip. I know you can coordinate that through the city. If the locals don’t even know about it how is anyone else?

Thor MautheParticipantIM send
Thor MautheParticipantThanks for the info. Ended up with a Bell K1. It was the only thing they had in stock that fit him. Funny how all of the sudden that he has a new helmet he mentions that the old one hurt when he wore it.
October 31, 2013 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Its THAT time of year again. VEGAS BABY!!! I've got SuperNats Fever!! #14437Thor MautheParticipantEven though my son is still too young to race we’ll be there. The best part is we live in Vegas so the trip is short. Think I’m taking Friday off as well to come watch.
Thor MautheParticipantStill for sale. Make me an offer I can’t refuse!
