Jeremy BaldiParticipant
F-125 both days. Sweet. Very excited to have a 4 races series so close to home.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantWhere are you located?
Jeremy BaldiParticipantThanks. Last year a tech guy told my dad he would need to replace his helmet for this year. Guess he was wrong.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantGene,
What layout will DKC be running on NCM in Aug?
Also anyone know what layout WKA will be running in Oct? I think I saw the 2 mile west course but can’t remember for sure.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantI 100% agree with Robert. 125 super karts have always run in what ever the 125 enduro class has been. They should be written into the f-125 class.
Under the current rules it says f-125 is a laydown class so you have to be max 50″ wide (some superkarts chassis might fit), 26″ tall (without a really tall seat most superkarts would be okay), at least 6″ of body work clearance around steering wheels and legs (some superkarts fairings are to close or large for this rule) and the gas tank most be between wheels not a center one (many superkarts have center gas tanks). So you could make a superkart legal under even under the lay down rules. But I would love to see a CIK legal superkart legal in the f-125 class without having to worry about the rules above.
I’m sure any f-125 would agree with me. We would love to have as many karts in our class as possible. Whether they be laydown, superkarts or some other 125 enduro kart. There are lots of old zip superkarts out there that I would love to see people put a 125 on and come race with us.
AKRA, WKA or CES or any other org. Hope you read this and make sure you adjust the rules to make superkarts legal in f-125 without any questions.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantLooks like I’ll be doing many of the same as Brain. Hopefully Noah, Robert and the other f-125 guys join us at these races.
May – Grattan (DKC)
June – Mid-Ohio (DKC)
July – Grattan (CES)
Sept – MIS (MKC)
OCT – NCM (WKA)Not sure if I’ll be able to but maybe try and do the Aug – Summit (WKC) event as well because Woodbridge puts on a great event.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantJeff,
If you actually read the rules it seems to say that a superkart based on CIK guidelines is legal in unlimited (wings, large driver fairing and center gastank and all) but it doesn’t really say that it is legal in f-125 or not. Since f-125 race in unlimited 2 on sundays I would think any unlimited rules should apply to f-125 other than the engine regs. I’ve always been confused on how that rule is written.
Having said that there have been guys that have run them in f-125 without any problems and as a f-125 competitor I would say bolt on a 125 and come on out. We would love you to race with us.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantSince Dart Kart is my home club I guess I’ll be seeing what this AKRA is all about.
It hasn’t seemed like many racers have been committing to the WKA national series lately. Just to expensive to travel around. I can only think of a very low number of karters that have tried to go for a national championship in the last few years. Most have instead been just racing at their local club events and if those happen to be a WKA event than great.
Having said that I would think that it will be hard for DKC to get good numbers this year without WKA attached to their events. I hope that is not the case and hope that there is maybe something in place to make sure DKC can make good numbers this year and continue in the future. The AKRA says more RR will be announced in the near future. I am really curious what those races will be since it is kinda late to get track dates for this year.
I am also really interested in the rules. Like Brain said he hasn’t seen a 2015 WKA rule book and they already had a race. One would assume most rules will be the same so you at least have a good base to go on. AKRA better get a RR rule book out soon if they want anyone to prep a kart in time for their races.
Like most I have stayed closer to home the last few years and competed in races put on by DKC, CES, MKC, WKC and WKA. I am going to continue to do that and therefor will support any org that puts on a races within around 6hrs of my home. Hope to see lots of people at the races this year no matter who’s putting it on.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantJohnny,
Here is a pic of my paddle shifter. It is an evolution of of one my dad created in the mid 80’s. Basic design is normal. Butterfly paddle hooked up to a push/pull cable.
But most guys have a rod that is as wide as the steering wheel that they take their fingers off wheel and pull with right hand to shift up and with left hand to shift down.
Ours is same idea but is much smaller so I can keep more of my hands on the wheel and just use my fingers to shift. I added the red plastic “button” so that during downshifts and braking when you are being thrown around pull with left finger and push with right thumb. This gives more control. Upshifting is just down with pull of fingers.

Jeremy BaldiParticipantThat is so cool. Glad we can’t see behind us during the race because the rear view is so intimidating. Great to see yet another view. Next year we need to have a battle like that for the full 45mins.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantRobert vid is awesome. So cool to see another view. It seemed like one time I would do okay on the straight and the next time you guys would pull away like crazy. I guess just weather I got on straight well or got any draft. Hope for more races like this in the future.
Quality looked good to me. When you first post to YouTube it doesn’t give the HD quality option right away. It takes a few hours to give you the 1080p option.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantYeah I watch certain parts and am like wow I killed that corner. And than you see other parts you were I say biffed that pretty bad. But it also allows you to to see my “on the grass crazy pass” again and again which is awesome.
Yeah my infield is pretty good but need some more top speed for sure. I got some ideas on things to try for next year. I know the wing hurts top speed some but lap time is always better with it on.
Your top speed is definitely pretty good. But Brain’s is just screaming.
YouTube always you to post over 15 mins if you verify your account. So you could try that.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantHere is the vid from saturdays F125 race. Brian, Robert and I had good battle for lead for the first 16 mins of the race. Lots of fun and thanks for the good racing.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantEven though the storm on Friday tried to blow us and our tent away we still had a great time.
Brain and Robert that was an absolute blast on saturday. The three of us racing for the lead for the first 15 mins was really good fun. I’m thinking of patenting that off road passing maneuver:) Looking forward to seeing your vid Robert. I’ll upload mine to youtube soon and post the link here when I do.
Thanks to MKC for another fun event and looking forward to coming back again next year.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantBill
Right now weather looks good. But just in case will you guys run in rain at all? Hopefully not something we need to worry about but just want to double check.
Also looks like we have to be in track by 7:00 pm on Friday. Is that true and if so is that an absolute hard cut off? We can probably get there by than but by the time we get kids out of school and drive up it will be close. If it’s later than 7:00 than we will be fine if not we’ll figure out how to get there by than.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantLooking forward to this event. I have had a great time the last 2 years and ran really well both times too. Unfortunately both times had silly things knock my out of the races while in front or near front, so hopefully things can stay together this year.
Robert, I agree that the lack of buzz on this event seems weird but there seems to be a general lack of buzz on EKN. There was hardly any posts on Mid Ohio and that was the WKA GN, but there was still a pretty good turn out. Not sure if EKN lost a lot of people when they switched formats or if people just aren’t posting. Hopefully lots of people show up and we have some big grids.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantDo you know if they are going to have race monitor up and running for this event?
Jeremy BaldiParticipantThat’s great Don is doing well. I had heard he hit the front straight wall so really glad he is okay.
Yeah F-125 with Noah jumping in is that much more intense. It is a great class to be in and we are all pushing each other which is fantastic.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantThanks DKC for a great weekend. Except for a little rain on friday the weather was amazing and once again the event was well put on. I ran pretty good and everything thing is still in one piece which is awesome. I also took over a sec off my previous best so that was fantastic.
On very serious note someone was air lifted at either the end of race 5 or beginning of race 6 on Sunday. I have no idea what happened or who was involved but my prayers are that they will be okay. Any info on who was air lifted, what happened and their status would be great.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantWeather is looking good. Mid 70’s and no rain. Hope everyone is coming because MO is an awesome track and DKC puts on a great event.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantEven though my weekend was a complete bust I want to thank DKC for a great event. DKC always puts on a great event and the crew did it once again.
It was very cold and water was seeping from the track in most corners after 3 days of solid rain so the track was very slippery. After breaking in a new top end in the first session I had some good laps in the next 2 sessions until my crank went. Even though we had all the parts we needed to fix it we didn’t have the tools at the track to do it. Plan than changed to stealing my dads K9b off his sprint after his race on sat so I could run in F-125 in the afternoon. Unfortunately his crank also went in his race. So weekend was over, packed up early and went home to start repairs for Mid Ohio. Very confusing because both our cranks were well under the service gallons but such is racing.
Really sucks because Grattan is probably my most competitive track and my best chance to give Willhelm any pressure. In my limited running I did figure out some of my new parts seemed to be working but will have to continue the tests at MO. Hope to see everyone at MO and hope we have a little warmer weather for it.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantI love running in the rain. Ask any of the DKC board and they’ll tell you my dad and I are one of the first ones down for a wet practice. Last time it rained at Mid Ohio we went through 10 gallons of fuel in a morning of open practice. I guess practice makes perfect too because last time we raced in the rain I was something like 15 sec a lap faster than second place.
Yeah there is a more clean up but I love the challenge of driving in the rain, fighting for grip, hardly ever going straight, smooth inputs. Really teaches you car control that is for sure.
If it is too cold it can be miserable but not as miserable as looking at an open track from the trailer in my opinion.
But I still prefer a dry track because than everyone is out to race! See everyone this weekend.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantThe good news is even if it rains DKC will still run practice so you can still get track time instead of just sitting in the trailer. Hopefully we have good weather but either way looking forward to the weekend.
Jeremy BaldiParticipantCan’t wait to get back on track. After the long winter finally getting the kart together though it will not be pretty. I’ll be sporting lots of duct tape and primer grey. Hopefully some of the new concepts will work out and I can find a little more speed. See everyone this weekend.
Jeremy
Jeremy BaldiParticipantI haven’t had the bad luck you have had so far but am still way behind were I would like to be. I had hoped to have a new kart started but that will have to wait a bit. So I have been prototyping stuff on the current chassis and it will have a much different look for Grattan. Looking forward to getting back on the track.
