Howie IdelsonParticipant
The IKF Grand nationals must be ashamed of themselves. This race and IKF is a shell of what it once was. 4 and 5 kart classes with Duffys to the winners is a disgrace. It’s not even at club race level anymore. Times change and it’s time to let it die.
The monthly LAKC race is national caliber monthly racing with full fields of tough talent in all classes. I put more value on doing well there hands down.
RIP IKF
Howie IdelsonParticipantNice!

Howie IdelsonParticipantHere’s a video of my son Dane’s first time on track just after his 4th birthday.
Howie IdelsonParticipantYou don’t need to wait till 5 years old. Puffo karts are great for 3-5 year olds. The have Honda 35cc power now and are fantastic. We started off that way with my son just following me in a rental kart around the track in his Puffo. a great way to start. Many kart companies make them and most come complete with the motor.

Howie IdelsonParticipantAre these in good condition?
Howie IdelsonParticipantSpeeds are lower and slide distances are less than a motorcycle. The fabrics in kart suits are very abrasion resistant and cooler then leather. Cheaper too.
May 16, 2014 at 12:50 pm in reply to: Best US region for competitive (master driver) karting? #27589Howie IdelsonParticipantThe Los Angeles Karting Championship LAKC is one of the best. Monthly races at CalSpeed where the track configurations changes each month, 200 plus karts and some of the best masters drivers in the country. It’s like a monthly National championship.

Suggest you get better info.

Look up numbers for 125 Gp bikes. They made 55 HP with carbs. Why would 55 HP on an injected ICC be not in your realm of belief?

December 20, 2013 at 11:49 am in reply to: New to Kid Karting – Comer 50 to LO206 Conversion Questions #18240Howie IdelsonParticipantI believe that the Honda will take over as the motor of (most Sanctioning bodies and clubs) choice. LAKC is a good case study at one of the biggest clubs in the US–it’s a hit! Comer has ben dropped. It’s a huge improvement on every level and takes the engine builder out of the picture, its bullet proof. The motor is sealed from HRC, everything is spec. LAKC also runs a claiming rule. It’s what a kid kart class is all about. learning to race not learning that if dad spends more I win.
December 19, 2013 at 11:53 am in reply to: New to Kid Karting – Comer 50 to LO206 Conversion Questions #18161Howie IdelsonParticipantHave you checked out the Honda GXH50 kid kart package? It bolts on to the comer mount. It’s a great motor. We run the class at LAKC with great success. The motor comes with everything you need to bolt on and go.

December 4, 2013 at 12:27 pm in reply to: Shameful price gouging by big shops at the Supernationals #17147Howie IdelsonParticipantThis was never intended to be a pissing match about who’s to blame for a short supply of tires. Nor was it a Blame SKUSA or MG thing either. We f’d up and didn’t have enough. I’m not a victim of any of this. Same can be said for many many others. I mainly wrote about how ugly and disgustingly greedy some in the industry became when they saw the problem. Instead of offering tires for a fair price they saw an opportunity to gouge and that’s what I had a problem with. I have no problem taking responsibility for not being fully prepared – thats on me. I do have a problem for the Looting tactics of some VERY established karting industry business folks. I have new found opinions about these businesses and will do everything in my power to persuade anyone I can away from doing business with them.
Howie IdelsonParticipantOne has them all beat. Very modern and technical patterns, best quality sublimation – K 1 stuff looks antiquated next to the One suits.
December 2, 2013 at 9:03 pm in reply to: Shameful price gouging by big shops at the Supernationals #16964Howie IdelsonParticipantOscar, I spent the entire day Thursday and part of Friday going around the pits and was quoted between $1000 and $2500 by people who had them. One guy approached me in the back parking lot saying he heard I was looking and would sell them for 2500. It felt like a drug deal.
December 2, 2013 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Shameful price gouging by big shops at the Supernationals #16945Howie IdelsonParticipantThis was never intended to be a blame SKUSA thread. I just felt that the advantage taking by shops that had inventory at the event was (IN MY OPINION) really disgusting and an embarrassment for the sport.
November 26, 2013 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Shameful price gouging by big shops at the Supernationals #16637Howie IdelsonParticipantJimmy,
I didn’t say anything about SKUSA in my post. That’s not what it was about. I was only talking about the price gouging by the kart dealers. As for used rains, you would have been penalized for running used rains from someone else. Someone under our tent paid top dollar for a set of USED rains and finished 2nd in his heat only to find out that they had been previously checked in under the original owners kart number. He was docked 2 positions and told not to show up on the grid with them again. His weekend ended early. He ran another really old set in qualifying. He could have come to the grid with a third set of rains and only been docked 2 positions.
November 26, 2013 at 3:28 pm in reply to: Shameful price gouging by big shops at the Supernationals #16623Howie IdelsonParticipantI don’t think any of them were set up for vending at the race.
Howie IdelsonParticipantThe GoPro 3+ Kicks everything elses ass.
Howie IdelsonParticipantWhat’s the problem with naming names? Here’s one. David Jimenez! Pay up Sucka.
Howie IdelsonParticipantDo it. They work awesome. Super cheap and fun.
