    Answer to question:  No.

Larry, I like your idea.  Also, $30 pit passes are killing any chance of getting the curious coming out to check us out which = no new blood.  I can go to the Crofton dragstrip here for $7 and roam the pits all day and night. If a guy wants to bring his son just to see what road race karting is all about, its $60.  Just to check it out.   Also, we used to have a junior enduro class.  Much of the downturn started about the same time that class died.  Some fans become participants.  But forget about fans unless its REAL cheap,  Look at NASCAR .  They can’t buy enough banners to cover the empty seats.  I’m convinced the key is to combine road races with other group’s events.   Reach out to boy scouts and other groups to  host regional pinewood derby championships at our races, etc.  Invite local car clubs.  Etc.  Since many guys take Thursday and Friday off anyways, what about races on Monday and Tuesday with Sunday as drive down day?  At some venues, rent is a LOT cheaper………

BTW:  Just to clarify, the 68mm pisotn is actually for the ATK model 260 (1999?).  Here’s one link for a relatively cheap kit.

I’ll look.  If I go to Sumnmit Point next weekend I’ll take a  pic afyter I load them up. as well.  I’m even abel to load myself by using a harbor frieght lift dolly in the bed.  I transferby sliding form kart stand to top of  dolly in bed.  Then I swivel dolly around so kart is sideways to truck and push to front half of truck.  And a RZ350 superkart is as heavy as it gets.  It aint a trailer race :)

8ft bed crew cab F350 BTW.

They have both std and two oversizes on ebay and Amazon.  Up to 68.00.  If not listed, ask seller, he has them I know.  But all are Wiseco.  If you want OEM, you have to go to Ives, Murphy or American Dirtbike.

BTW:  Only damage I’ve had in 10 years of oding this is minor scratches to the bed liner.

I haul 2 250 superkarts in back of truck all the itme.  I streetch them side by side across the top of the bed using tie downs.  They run fine the whole 600 miles each way to Roebling Road no problem.  If done right, you can even put a laydown under them in the bed itself.

BTW You can even buy Rotax 257 pistons on Amazon.com!!!  I got 4 last year when they had a special for $85 each w/ free shipping.  Icluded ring and wrist pin but not wrist pin bearing which is also available on Amazon.   Not hard at all to find.   Now the rotary version model 244, that’s a bit tougher……..

There’s a guy on ebay who has them for $115 all the time. Just search on ATK 250 piston.  Besides Terry, American DirtBike also has all the parts for the ATK 250LQ (Rotax 257).  Rod kits, pistons, etc.  Parts are still pretty plentiful for these.

This is already causing a huge stir and certianly has potenital to be biggest US karting event since the 1983 King of Karting Expo in Charlotte during which Pruett won everything from enduro to sprint to dirt.  With such an advance notice, we should all work to eliminate any and all potenital excuses for no-shows.  This includes pooling to arrange truck transportation from the East and West  Coasts.   Nowadays, with the economy and demands on our time, most eveyrone is in a position where they have to pick and choose a select few events.  This would have to rank up top for most.  Of course with the cost and logitics involved,  folks like myself will have to start saving and plan now.

Bruce:  This course looks like it was made for laydowns which we all know are the coolest among karts.  I would bring my B-stock/C-open as well as our 250 and RWYB laydown  Gibson karts.  I have several single enduros I could also bring but only engines I have a vintage TT25s.   I would enterntain someone lending me a Yammi engine package in exchange for a ride in a 250 single.  The vmore entires the more fun this will be for all.

Rules??? We don’t need no stinking rules!!! :) Benn pretty much explained it. I really believe this is the growth class of the future, a sort of anti-spec class. You may or may not know but I helped write the original rules for the USKGP RWYB class. The intent is two-fold: A) help promote and give the opportunity to the mad scientist aspect of the sport that so many of us miss hence the ok of NO2, alky, blowers, turbos, big cc’s etc etc. and B) to make a class for karts that are obsolete for today’s classes (aka C-Open), or otherwise just don’t fit anywhere else. Some places are breaking the class into 2 groups, Big Motor and Small motor, but otherwise rules concentrate on safety. Super exotic stuff often doesn’t stay together very long. So it is quite possible to run well or even win in a basic 125 shifter or the like. Bring it on. Variety is the spice of life.
