The SmartyCam is expensive, yes. I use both as I bought my GoPro originally to record Moto-X, then surfing (boogie board), and finally karting. Thrilled with the recordings, I started watching the karting videos on youtube and came across the SmartCam.
ith the accelerometer, GPS, and the SmartyCam software you combine the Mychron with the SmartCam and watch all telemetry overlaid on the video. The GPS lets you skip any beacon setup as well as define your own points, in addition to simple lap  times. You can make your own splits and watch the straightaway times, and any other sections you wish to define and monitor.
Especially since this is your first year, you need a mychron and a camera. I recommend paying up for the smartycam and skip the gopro unless you need it for other activities.

Because most chain saws and weed wackers run just fine w/o setting the pop off.

I use 100% synthetic exclusively, generally sticking with a 30:1 ratio.
Castor has historically been used for it’s superior lubricity, but I believe that modern synthetics have certainly equaled if not surpassed castor.

Castor is also a vegtable oil and will spoil like any other cooking oil so if you do elect to stick with castor buy it in small quantities, as needed and never leave it sitting on the shelf for extended periods.

My motors are clean, well lubricated, with much less oil smoke.

The only motor I’ve ever ruined was leaned to the point it detonated and imploded.

The one thing I can say about castor is that it smells great. I love the smell of castor!

How, when do you read the plug if not shutdown at end of straight?

    Wait for it too cool?

Maybe some reasoning to go along with that so I’ll understand.

    Thanks!

Does your motor need service? As mentioned most/all of those mentioned are reputable and good enough for scheduled maint.

If you’re looking to add power, I suggest you wait.

Improvement comes first in software (human driving skills) which can only come from seat time. Then hardware, chassis setup and handling comes first. Learning how to get the power you have to the pavement. Teach the driver to communicate, listen, read up on kart setup and experiment with changes.

Once that’s all set, build a legal blueprinted motor, carb and clutch
