We’ve been on both ends of the bumper debate.

While not a fan of the pushing and shoving either, it is those once in 3 or 4 races accidents that the bumpers are designed to help.  It is better for the racer’s hide/bones/noggin in the long run.

When I look back now on the bumperless karts,I think of days when men were men.

But hindsight tells me that a bumper would have been a good idea then too, just no one made you use it.

There is a limit.  Have we reached the point where more would be better?  Can we plan for every possible accident/ failure/lapse in judgement?  Doubtful

Not to sound like a smarta$$, but it takes awhile before you sort this out.  There are obvious things, of course, but make a list after every outing.  What you ain’t got and what you saw someone with that you haven’t thought of before.

Make friends and bring an extra 6 pak to pay off those who help you.

I’ve only been turned down once when I have asked for something.

Isn’t there a formula to use for the relief that is built into the rear?  What do you call that thingie?

I remember it being a steep learning curve for the driver and me.  Looking back, I would have held off.

Don’t use any ethanol enhanced gasoline.  That’s the prime directive.

So..All this being said, what can you do to entice racers to come and roadrace?

It appears obvious that getting the ‘good’ tracks will bring them out of the woodwork, but how do we(meaning you promoters) get the ‘good’ tracks to come off their highhorse and negotiate?

We have two roadcourses in LA.  One the racers won’t come to because its rough and in the boondocks.  The other is new and smooth but turns a cold shoulder to karts.

Money is the only thing that matters?

I’m sorry I didn’t answer the question.  No.

But the clubs need to be more of a benevolent oligarchy than a democracy.  Find someone who wants and will do the work and let them do it.

Partnerships with another race is a great idea, done at Barber with moderate success but messed up by rainy weather on the scheduled weekend.

We should race at the new Indy race on the weekend that the new roadrace runs.

As a business man I can’t see the point of the large tracks.  They should want someone doing something at their track every weekend.  The bills for the track go on whether anyone uses it or not.

Barber in B’ham is rumored to want the karts because they want the business.

If I had a jillion dollar track, I would book anyone who could come in and help me break even.

You can’t book NASCAR every weekend

one or two of those loose wires are for a kill switch.  make sure any errant unused wires don’t touch anything or each other until you sort them all out.

Knowing some of that bunch you race with I’m surprised more wheels don’t ‘wobble’.

I concur with Larry.  Any weight added under the seat will just make the kart heavy and a slug to tune.  Any weight you add needs to be above the frame or your kart will be a handful and you will never get it to work.  This is the gospel from the book of hard knocks.

I may be stating the obvious, but the throttle cable is just that, a cable that runs inside a vinyl covered sheath.  The new one you got may be the inside cable.  You need an inside part most often.  Any of those places mentioned will  have what you are looking for.  You might try cable housing AND cable assembly.
