Pittsburgh International Race Complex recently commenced a full repaving project for the well-known karting track, the Wilson Circuit. The Wilson Circuit measures .8 miles in length and is compromised of 16 turns, straight-aways, and great elevation change.

Originally constructed in 2002 and designed by renowned track designer, Alan Wilson, the circuit was ready for the upgrade. The repaving process began on November 5, 2015 and potentially finished by December 1, 2015. The track will cure during the winter for the best possible racing surface in April 2016, when the outdoor track opens for karting rentals, practicing and racing.

“We’re proud to have such a great track for karting action and it is great to see the track being resurfaced to provide the safest and most entertaining racing in the area,” states Sales and Marketing Director, Dominic Cincotta.

The 2016 race season at Pitt Race on the Wilson Circuit will encompass visits from F Series Racing, USPKS, and WKA, as well as a rental league and the Pitt Race Karting Series. “We’re proud to host such prestigious events as well as offer open karting to all racers who join us,” added owner Kathy Stout.

The repaving project is part of an extensive three-year plan for Pittsburgh International Race Complex. The paving of the Wilson Circuit will act as a test platform for the asphalt compound that could be used in the repaving of the North Track in late 2016.

New run out areas will be added where needed and curbing will secure upgrades to meet current standards, with an extended pit-in to expedite transitions during a race day.
