d’Orlando Brothers Back in Action in Sin City
Michael and Nicholas d’Orlando return to Sin City for more racing action this weekend for the 2015 SuperKarts! USA SuperNationals XIX at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This will be the boys’ first experience in the IAME engine package, with Michael in IAME Leopard/TaG Junior class and Nicholas in the IAME Mini Swift 60/TaG Cadet class. This year’s SuperNats event will be held at a new location and a new track configuration that is a .84 of a mile in length and features a main straight of 800 ft. The twelve turn circuit features a mix of corners and multiple different passing zones. It also has switched from being clockwise to a counter clockwise track putting this year’s competitive environment on an even playing field. Giving a totally new look for all the competition, Michael and Nicholas will face off against the best of the best from around the world in what is considered the “pinnacle karting event of the year”.
It has been an incredible year so far for Nicholas d’Orlando and he hopes to expand his resume, including a 2015 US Grand National Mini MAX Championship along with his collections of wins and podiums this year, with a win at the SKUSA Supernats in TaG Cadet in Las Vegas.
“I am looking forward to this weekend’s race,” said Nicholas. “This new track configuration will take a couple of laps to get used to. I adapt well to new racetracks and I like the new challenge. I feel really confident going into this weekend. This is a very tough field, as some of the best drivers in the world will be here. I am very focused and determined for a win. The goal is to end this season, and my Cadet career, on a high note by winning this whole thing.”
Going into this weekend’s race, Michael has been one of the top performing rookies in 2015 in the Juniors ranks. Despite facing some bad luck lately, Michael has over come the odds and hopes this weekend in Las Vegas will see his luck change. He is very eager to get his first win of the season and what a bigger stage to do it on than at the SKUSA SuperNats in Las Vegas.
“I am really looking forward to racing at Las Vegas this weekend,” said Michael. “I like new tracks and the challenge of learning them. I’ll be pushing for the win and I feel really confident. Junior has been a big step up for me. I have learned a lot with each race and we’ve had some really good results this season. The SKUSA SuperNats competition is very tough and we are going to do all we can for the best result. There is no better or bigger place to try to get my first win in Junior than at this weekend’s SKUSA SuperNats race here in Las Vegas. It would be a great way to end the season and go into 2016 with.”
