Norman, Oklahoma’s Champion Racing added yet another championship title its resume as one of the winningest teams in North America when their driver Ryan Kinnear secured the Shifter Masters crown in the US Open series with a win at the finale in Las Vegas on October 31.  The team also won the Shifter Senior category at the temporary circuit event, which took place on the parking lot of the Rio Hotel and Casino, thanks to a stellar performance by Bryce Cornet aboard his Champion Racing Intrepid.

“We couldn’t be happier with the performance that our guys delivered at the US Open finale in Las Vegas, scoring two big main event wins and putting three guys in the top-10 in the Senior shifter class,” commented Champion Racing’s Rodney Berryhill, “Ryan really wanted the title and he went out there and took hold of it by winning the race.  We’re thrilled that we were able to provide him with the equipment and support to get the job done.”

At the Las Vegas finale, Champion Racing scored two victories in the gearbox categories, but also saw their drivers run strongly in the top-10 all weekend. Cornet turned in a spectacular effort in taking the win in Shifter Senior after a great battle for the lead, while Harry Gottsacker continued his rapid development with an impressive top-five run in fourth as he ran in the lead pack all day.  Royal McKee made it three Champion Racing Intrepid drivers in the top-seven as he completed a strong weekend with a solid effort in the main.  Kinnear arrived in Nevada looking to secure a championship in the Shifter Masters class and he did it in style, qualifying on the pole, topping two of the four heat races and winning the final by 1.157 seconds to secure the crown.

The team is now in full-throttle preparations for the biggest event in karting, the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals, which will take place on November 18-22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.  Champion Racing has 10 drivers scheduled to be in the team tent, all focused on driving their Intrepid chassis to the top of the podium.
