Anthony Willis entered the 4^th round of the SKUSA California ProKart Challenge with nearly a 200 point lead in the Tag Cadet series championship.   He left the picturesque town with a substantially larger lead after an amazing last lap, last corner pass to move from 3^rd to Victory!

Stewart Willis, team principal of Anthony Willis Racing said , “I know I am biased, but, that was one of the greatest passes I have ever seen in karting.”  Tom Kutscher talked about the pass at the podium presentations saying, “This little guy right here, Willis, laid there like a little piranha, came around and slid right in there, they didn’t know what happened to them.  That was F1 style!”

“This is the most excited I have been all year.  Oliver Calvo, Ryan Schartau and  my teammate Joseph Danielle are incredibly tough drivers to beat.  I have been a little bit upset with myself over the last month or so since ProTour at Phoenix.  I feel like I missed a great chance in Phoenix to show everyone what kind of speed that I really have.  I wanted to show that we are the cadet team to beat.  But, I let that Opportunity slip by.  I came to Sonoma with one goal in mind,” stated the young Arizona Tag Cadet pilot.

“Anthony has been very hard on himself.  He left Pro Tour as the only Cadet driver on the podium both days and 4^th in the overall points standing.  The top 4 are all very close, being separated by only 11 percentage points.  So, we are still very much in the championship hunt,” Stated  Stewart Willis.

Anthony Willis Racing  has now set their eyes on the 2^nd round of the SKUSA! ProTour at Newcastle, Indiana.   When asked what it will take to move their program forward, Stewart Willis said, “ We have the right kart.  Benik has in place a tremendous nationwide support system.  It’s great to get encouraging emails and messages from other fathers around the nation on the Benik chassis.  It has become a fraternity of sorts that I encourage every cadet racer to give a shot.  Our engine program, headed up by Phil Carlson (formerly of Pitts Performance) has been outstanding.  He is very selective whom he takes on as clients nowadays. Because he works full time on Honda Performance Development’s Indy Car engine program.”

Willis continued, “Where we have succeeded and others have failed is in our componentry and supplies.  Specifically, our drive system is always kept fresh and reliable.  We have entrusted all of  our drive system components to  Courtney Concepts’ product line.  RK Racing Chains and X.A.M. sprockets, lubed with Motul Factory Line, make for an incredibly precise and predictable drive system. We have not had a single thrown chain in any race or official practice all year.  Many of our competitors have used less expensive parts in the past.  But, realized that it was costing them races.  Most have now switched to our same combination.”
