Josh Stark raced to one of his best weekends in World Karting Association (WKA) Gold Cup competition June 5-7 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, S.C.

Competing in competitive Junior Pro Gas fields that attracted more than 15 of the best junior 4-cycle sprint road course kart racers on the east coast, Josh drove his 2015 Coyote Motorsports chassis to main event finishes of second in Junior Pro Gas Heavy 1, third in Junior Pro Gas Heavy 2 and fourth in Junior Pro Gas Lite 2.

Stark improved throughout each class’s program. Disappointing qualifying efforts left Joshua starting ninth, 10th and 11th in the three class’s pre-finals. He improved in each pre-final, netting finishes of fifth, seventh and eighth.

Josh really turned it up in the main event, advancing from fifth to second in Saturday’s Heavy final, seventh to third in Sunday’s Heavy final and eighth to fourth in Sunday’s Lite final.

“We had a good weekend, and I’m happy with the results,” Joshua stated. “We’re still looking for our first win at a National, and with the way we ran at Kershaw, I think we have a good shot at it at the next two events. Thanks to my mom and dad, grandparents, Coyote, GT Machine and everyone who helps.”

The next Gold Cup National is July 3-5 at G&J Kartway in Camden, Ohio. The season will conclude September 25-27 at Lamar County Speedway in Barnesville, Ga.

In the meantime, Josh will be competing locally at the Genesee Valley Kart Club in Avon, N.Y., and continue to gain seat time in the team’s new Legends car at tracks in western New York.
