The season has finally begun for the GearUp F-Series with the first round held at the technical circuit of GoPro Motorplex.  The PCR colors were seen throughout out the field tallying up a total of 12 pilots to represent Checkered Motorsports.  Concluding the weekend the team earned a pair of victories in F-355 and KZ shifter class along with a podium spot in Formula Micro Rok.

A dominate performance to say the least for Andrew Bujdoso in the F-355 class.  After placing his PCR Mxk8 chassis on pole, A. Bujdoso followed the three race format with a pair of victories in the first two races.  A minor driver error cost the young 17 year old a sweep in the final race, but a solid third place finish gave him the overall victory.  Newcomer, Phillippe Denes, quickly got accustomed to his PCR chassis.  Flight delays cost him track time on Friday, but that was no excuse for the California native. In qualifying Nolan Ruocco, Phllippe Denes, and Evan Fritts placed in 9^th, 10^th, and 11^th respectively in F-355.  In race one Denes put a stellar drive powering his BBS leopard package to third. Fritts advanced a few spots bringing home his PCR in 8^th.  Unfortunately, Nolan Ruocco and Randy Arvai suffered from on track incidents forcing the pair to retire. Arvai bounced back from his DNF finish to a strong fifth place finish in race two with Fritts to follow in sixth.  Race three Ruocco had his best finish yet with a solid eighth place position and Arvai ahead of him in seventh.  Fritts running in the sixth received the boot and lost the pack of karts in opening laps of race three.  With minor damage on his PCR, he nursed his way to 14^th.  Denes came across in fifth giving him a fourth place overall finish between the three races.

The KZ field had a strong showing with a total of 27 entries.  Four of the 27 entries were Checkered Motorsports pilots consisting of Jeffrey Neubert, Kyle Smith, Andrew Bujdoso, and Robert Bujdoso.  The 20 lap main event had the team on their heels where Robert Bujdoso made a pass on lap 18 for the lead.  R. Bujdoso held on to the win claiming the team’s second victory for the weekend.  A stuck throttle caused Kyle Smith to retire early from the main while running as high as the fourth position.  Andrew Bujdoso started 22^nd in the 20 lap final due to a silencer working its way loose.  A. Bujdoso quickly charged through the field and set fast lap of the race bringing the RTR powered TM package in fifth.  Jeffrey Neubert, working alongside tuner Mike Myers, made his first start with the PCR chassis.  Neubert made steady progress throughout the weekend and capped off Saturday’s action with his personal best times finishing in 19th.

Formula Junior Rocco Cannata made his first start with the PCR Superstrillo chassis and quickly made his presence in the 17 kart field.  Cannata missed the pole position by a mere 11 hundredth of a second.  The first race Cannata held the second spot the majority of the 10 lap event, but a last lap battle cost him a few positions to finish in fifth. The final race Cannata displayed his race craft where he shuffled through the experienced junior field crossing the line in third.  Josh Holland rounded out the tent with a pair of ninth place finishes and a DNF in race number three.

Sufyan Waryah displayed consistency in the Micro Rok field.  Sporting his new PCR Cadet kart the young pilot finished second in all three race events and ultimately claiming a second place overall finish for the weekend.
