With the start of the inaugural US Open powered by MAXSpeed Entertainment just around the corner, CRG USA has begun the preparation for the new national karting series. With the first event taking place at the Dallas Karting Complex (DKC) in Caddo Mills, Texas, a large contingent of CRG competitors will see action in both the Stock Honda and Rotax MAX powered classes as they begin their chase for over $200,000.00 in cash, prizes and awards offered by the series.

“We are really excited for the US Open series,” explained CRG USA’s Stacey Cook. “The effort by MAXSpeed Entertainment to put on a true national series is second to none and we are happy to support them in their efforts. We have nearly thirty competitors ready to hit the track and we will be working hard towards race wins, podiums and successful starts to the championship chase.”

Making the trek from Europe and CRG Srl. are three competitors that will surely be at the front of their respective fields. Multi-time World Champion Davide Fore will throw his hat into the mix in SH Elite as he will look to turn his experience and speed into a victory for CRG USA. Rotax frontrunners and champions Ed Brand and Harry Webb will contest the Rotax Senior category in their hunt for tickets to the annual Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals later this year in Portimao, Portugal.

With a resume too long to list, Fore is one of karting’s most colorful competitors. Just a synopsis of his results, readers will see five-time world champion, multi-time European champion and vice championships from all over the world. Beginning his karting career in 1982, Fore has more experience behind the wheel of a kart than most of his class rivals have been alive. Though his younger counterparts show speed, Fore always finds his way to the pointy end of the field and is able to challenge for victories.

Webb will bring loads of experience and results with him to United States competition. Claiming the 2012 Rotax MAX Winter Cup Junior title in 2012, Webb continued his Junior dominance by claiming the Rotax MAX Grand Finals Rotax Junior championship later that season as well as the Rotax MAX Euro Challenge title. In 2013, Webb added to his resume with a Rotax Senior victory in the Rotax Winter Cup while in 2014, he added another Rotax Euro Challenge title, this time in the Senior class.

Making starts at the 2014 and 2015 Florida Winter Tours, Ed Brand will return to the USA for US Open competition. Always finding his way to the front of the field in Rotax competition, Brand was the 2011 Rotax Kart Masters British Grand Prix Champion. Finishing second at the Rotax Euro Challenge in 2012, Brand utilized that momentum to stand on the second step of the podium at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals later that season. 2014 saw always-fast Brand once again at the front of the field, this time claiming the third position in the Rotax MAX Euro Challenge. Add multiple race wins and podiums all across the world, Brand looks to continue his success in North American karting competition.

Joining Fore in the SH Elite division will be shifter kart frontrunner and champion Joey Wimsett. A fixture on the CRG product line over the past few seasons and always a threat for the victory when he gets behind the wheel, Wimsett and Fore will work together to ensure success in the premier shifterkart class in the US Open program.

Rotax Challenge of the Americas Rotax DD2 champion Sabre Cook will trade in her Rotax powered CRG for a six speed Stock Honda gearbox kart joining Fore and Wimsett in the SH Elite division. Already earning her ticket and invite to join Team USA at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Portugal in November, Cook will continue to hone her skill all while challenging some of the world’s best drivers. Competing at the Dallas Karting Complex in 2014, Cook was one of the frontrunners in the ultra-competitive S1 division. Racing wheel-to-wheel with some of North America’s and the world’s best, Sabre was in the top-three on the time sheets in all of her heat races and started the day’s main event from inside row three.

Colby Yardley will fly the CRG USA colors in the SH Senior division at the US Open and will look to use the knowledge and data from his fellow shifterkart teammates to challenge for race wins, podiums and championships.

Cook continued, “Colby has to be one of the favorites in the SH Senior class as we enter the series. He is a driver with a lot of talent and I am expecting big things from him in 2015. We have nearly thirty CRG USA drivers and are excited to announce the rest of the Team CRG USA competitors in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.”
