Yeah sure lets start handing out fines so we ultimately kill the sport all together. F1 is in a league way, way, way above karting. Mistakes happen, and consequences of those mistakes happen. As my dad always said “thats racing.” the black flag for the Naussa panel was correct action. nothing further needed. If you wanted to, maybe a tracking system for black/mechanical flags. ultimately baring someone from a race or season. Or give your race director the ability to take points, bar from track or races. Fining will just add another expense and the need to always have new. which i dont know about you but that doesnt make me want to race.

I’m ok with fines. This past weekend, they were handing out $10 fines for failing to signal when entering or exiting the track at our club race – people in every class were getting them, from young to old. That price point seemed pretty appropriate for club racing. It shouldn’t stop anyone from racing, but it’s a signal to smarten up.

For bigger level events, I’m ok with bigger fines.

At some point, safety has to be taken seriously.

If we were racing for serious money then maybe fines would work, otherwise just another chink in the armor that keeps people from becoming involved.

Fines are the last thing this sport needs.  It costs most people enough just to get out there and compete.  If rules are not being followed accordingly, there are other approaches which can be made without costing more hard earned dollars.  Mechanical failures are going to happen, mistakes are going to be made – charging people $$ for them will only be a detriment to the sport.

That seems a bit ridiculous to me.  If it is such a problem and folks can’t abide by the rules set fourth, it seems pretty obvious that the solution is to pull them from the track and prevent them getting back on.  Shouldn’t have anything to do with $$.  The fines imposed are going to do nothing for the innocent guy that is going to take the hit from there lack of attention anyway.

And at what point does will an “intermittent” mistake get separated from a “cause for a fine”?

If safety isn’t being taken seriously, then maybe it’s not just a problem with guys on track, but  the officials need to take a look into there own policies and learn how to enforce them.

Im so happy others agree with me. And instead of fines there are other ways of punishment that do just as good but dont cost money. This sport has gone from minor expense to full out budget crisis. You think fine will help with that?

on a side note why would you be entering or exiting the track during races? I could understand exits but those would be emergencies and corner flagmen should caution that and other drivers should yield. I also cant believe your race director allows people to enter during races? Thats just dangerous.

I don’t see where it was said that karts were entering the track during an actual race. Instead he said it was on a race day.

Fines for mechanical failures  (even because of human error )  I don’t agree………

However,  fines for agresive driving should be adopted..   my 2 cents….

Yes i know your supposed to raise your hand. And as for the race day I was assuming there was no practicing going on, hence race day. If its a practice I could understand raising your hand. I still dont think that a fine would be the right way to go, all youll do with that is drive away those families that are barely making it to the race to begin with.
