Team News: Mike Manning Karting to Debut New Drivers at California ProKart Challenge Opener

Mike Manning Karting has been up to some pretty exciting things during the off season since the SKUSA Supernationals in Las Vegas, which gave us some very promising results. We drove away from the beautiful Rio venue with a heat race win for our MMK chassis in the TAG Masters class, as well as a 5th place main event finish by former IndyCar competitor Richie Hearn. Kevin Manning also showed excellent speed all weekend, but unfortunately DNF’ed in the main event.

We also had driver Michel Manning compete in the California State Championships last month as a one-off race, being her first official event in TAG Senior. Michel got into a wreck on the start of the main, but ended up crossing the finish line in 7th place, and came within one tenth of setting fast time of the race.

Over the past few weeks MMK has been feverishly preparing, testing, and let’s not forget resting, to prepare for our upcoming ventures of 2015. Our first major event is approaching this weekend, as we will head to Buttonwillow Raceway to compete in the opening round of the SKUSA California Pro Kart Challenge. We are happy to announce a total of eight drivers competing across the TAG Masters and TAG Senior categories.

TAG Masters:
Kevin Manning #23k (Valencia, CA)
Rob Brackett #29c (So-Cal)
Chuck Sanford #11c (So-Cal)
Tom Gerstner #777n (New York)

When asked about this coming season, Kevin Manning had nothing but smiles to show. “I am very excited for a new season of racing. I’ll be pushing harder this year to win more races,” said Manning.

TAG Senior:
Nick DeGraaf #132c (Holland)
Nathan Seegrist #12c (Corona, CA)
Evan Jonker #805k (So-Cal)

MMK is very excited to announce our youngest new driver, 17-year old Nathan Seegrist. When asked about this coming weekend, Seegrist said, “Well I’m stoked to be racing with MMK and to be under the same tent as Mike Manning. He is a legend driver and he knows what he’s doing because he’s around karting all the time tuning his motors and karts. I feel like being with MMK is a stepping stone for moving forward with my racing career.”

MMK has also been lucky enough to cross paths with Nick DeGraaf, a former Rotax driver from the Netherlands. DeGraaf commented, “I’m really looking forward to the race and finding out how the competition is here in the U.S. I may be the oldest driver competing in TAG Senior this weekend, but I am up for the challenge.”

For 2015, Team MMK will be attendance at the SKUSA California Pro Kart Challenge, the Los Angeles Karting Championship, and of course the SKUSA Pro Tour, with the finale at the Supernationals in Las Vegas, Nevada. Team MMK would like to give a big thanks to all of our customers, fans, and supporters.
