I think he is referring to the IKF nationals an event that use to be important but nobody cares about anymore.

Thanks John that’s what I figured. Skusa has plenty of entry’s in the 125s. The ikf is kid orientated which I think is great. I kid can race 8-10 races in a weekend with 3 karts just changing weights. I learned something. I was expecting something different. Thanks Ed

You should’ve taken your 80 and made it a whopping 6 competitors in that category…

The IKF Grand nationals must be ashamed of themselves. This race and IKF is a shell of what it once was. 4 and 5 kart classes with Duffys to the winners is a disgrace. It’s not even at club race level anymore. Times change and it’s time to let it die.
The monthly LAKC race is national caliber monthly racing with full fields of tough talent in all classes. I put more value on doing well there hands down.
RIP IKF

Britt if I would have taken my 80 at least I could of raced. I thought they were dead but there is more 80 shifters than 125s in the ikf. I will never waste my money or time on an ikf race again. The host club sok did a great job super track. Ed

I think Northern California and Southern Oregon are keeping 80cc racing on life support. Obviously they scrounged up enough karts to make a “championship” class. It was killing me to open my Race Monitor app. and see 4-6 karts competing.
Our club races regularly have 10-15 shifters but when the IKF Gold Cup rolls through here there are maybe 5-6 running. That includes the two locals that show up… I will say this, the Can-Am Series has diluted the fields here in the NW. There aren’t enough racers to keep two regional series healthy.

It’s all about the lack of leadership. I say that bc where is the promotion of IKF? I see little to none. I race with Britt above at the club level. We host two gold cup events and the can am series. I had to go to our home track schedule to see when gold cup was in town. Had no intention of going bc no one shows up. Now can am was all over eKartingNews.com, couple other Facebook feeds, etc. Showed up and saw a crg trailer, packed parking, people in the stands. It felt and looked like a big event, IKF has none of that. In today’s world IKF is stale and out of touch, it appears from the outside.

The IKF board for the most part has been a bunch of old dinosaurs that believed clubs should promote IKF racing and it was the boards job was only to write rules and sell insurance.
They had the backward thinking that a small nationals was better as long as the regional program was strong. If you were buddies with the president you could have rules changed for your race it was no secret that it happened. I called out the president one time for allowing a rule change a month before the nationals so the club president would get a kickback from a tire company I still have the e-mail from the clown.
Worse was if you did something the board didn’t like they would have the tech director DQ some drivers they felt were part of running of the event I witnessed it. When you ask to prove it you were told it didn’t pass in the garage even though it would pass when it was showed to you. I saw a tech director refuse to DQ one race even though he said the kart was illegal and told the competitors to write a protest when that happened he asked the drivers not to turn it in.
Bury IKF for good there is no point for them to exist.

To me it seems like the IKF just needs to fade into being an insurance company so that interdependent rented tracks can continue to operate.
The other option would be to take on the 4 cycle part of the industry to a national level. If you think about it SKUSA is for shifters , ProTour is for TAG’s , and Rotax is Rotax but all pull the other classes in so why not have one focused on 4 cycle.
