Oakland Valley Raceway Park (OVRP) is hosting a data acquisition seminar for their customers on Sunday, April 21 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The workshop is open to kart and car racers utilizing the AIM RaceStudio2 software and will be taught by professional driver and driver coach, Marc Miller. OVRP has been home to several thousand kart racers over the years and continues to be a strong center of activity, located just over an hour from New York City.

“Marc has been a good friend over the years and to say he is knowledgeable on driver development and data acquisition is an understatement,” said Tim Hannen, Co-owner of OVRP. “He gets right to the point and will teach you not just how to use it but how it can help make you faster. We expect a big turnout for this and hope to see several local racers attending!”

“I am really looking forward to getting back to OVRP,” said Miller. I got my first WKA National win there many years ago and know several karters and car racers in the area. I look at it as a great opportunity to get the most out of the investment they have already made. Just about every racing car and kart has some form of data acquisition system and yet only a small portion of racers know how to get the most out of it.”

For the Sunday, April 21st data acquisition seminar, the main focus will be not only the operation of the AIM/mychron data acquisition system, but also how to analyze and optimize the data provided to improve driver, engine and chassis performance. Additional focus will be placed on gauging driver performance and consistency. Using the optional GPS feature of the MyChron 4, EVO4 and MXL-Pista systems, students will learn how to better understand the natural trends of their driver and how to improve their performance and better tune the chassis to their driving style. This particular seminar is not limited only to kart racers. Many car classes utilize AIM data acquisition and given their RaceStudio software will be featured, car racers are encouraged to attend as well.

“Data acquisition does not have to be a black art or confusing,” said Miller. “In fact, for years I had been to similar seminars and found them packed with so much technical information, it became overwhelming. My goal is to provide racers and mechanics with the tools necessary to understand how data acquisition works, how to read it and then how to put it to use in a simple and effective way. Everyone might have different needs when it comes to what they want to learn and that is welcomed.”

About the Instructor:
Marc Miller is a professional racing driver and driving coach with over 10 years of coaching experience. With accomplishments in all forms of motorsports (karting, formula cars, stock cars and sports car racing), Marc brings a vast knowledge base to his students regardless of their class or experience. Marc most recently is a race winning driver/coach for CJ Wilson Racing in the Grand Am Continental Tire Series, private driver coach for Ferrari, Porsche & sports car teams, while also acting as data coach for the MRP-Birel America Karting team. In 2009 he was runner-up in the Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Championship with an unprecedented eight straight podium finishes.
