I bought a new freeM one this year after I wore out my Tillet P1.
It doesn’t really have chest protection but it has pretty good rib protection.

If you slam head on hard enough to hurt your chest your legs will be broke anyway.

The Ribtect is the among the best you will find. They are releasing the fourth version of the ribvest next month. They also have a number of other products you may be interested in as well.

Thanks to all of you for your help, I’ve been searching for the Ribtech 4, but as David said I’ll have to wait until next month or a bit later. But is it worth to wear chest protection then? How many of you do?. There’s a member selling an Armadillo in excellent condition at a fair price including shipping, I may buy that one until the Ribtech 4 is really available.
Thanks again!

May be I didn’t get it right… is the FOURTH version that David is mentioning the Ribtech THREE? .Every website I’ve checked they say is the “new and improved version”, but it advertises the Ribtech 3. I’m a bit confused.

The Ribtect 4 is not available yet, thus shops are not promoting it. The Ribtect 3 is available, and is a great product as well.

Check out a K1 Carbon Fiber rib vest. In my opinion its the best, looks pretty good and works. Relatively slim and if you’re going to do any really tough driving in a TaG or anything I highly recommend a rib vest. It really isn’t about accident protection but for comfort after driving (No sore ribs or bruised ribs). They do offer some protection but in a crash the major thing is really the neck brace.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an adult w/ chest protection (not saying some don’t, though). I believe chest protection is often mandated for young drivers, since they are more vulnerable to cardiac issues from blows to the chest (e.g., commotio cordis).

Yes Jerry , you are right, I’ve seen chest protection described as mandatory for 5-12 years old. Never as mandatory for adults, but I wanted to check the “real Experiences” of seasoned drivers to get the info from the source.
Regarding what Michael is saying I heard great things about the K1 Carbon Fiber rib vest, but the more I research I realize that 80% of people recommend Ribtech. there’s to be a good reason for it …..
Now Michael opened another door, protection is about the neck brace, what neck brace you guys recommend?. Should I opened another topic for that to leave it as a guide for other novices needing the info?
I’ve seen the 360 plus device, the EVS R4, sparco anatomic 2012 and many others, any recommendations on that?
Thanks again to all of you!

Hi Robby,
Any link on how and where to order it?. I checked the Ribtect site and I don’t seem to find any way to place the order. Any idea when they will start shipping them out?.
Thanks for the info.

Any info on changes to the Ribtect 4? I can’t seem to find any info online, other than pictures of the ‘ Ribtect 4’ logo.
Thank you

Ribtect 4[/quote]haha apparently I haven’t, ty for the info!
Question, this new material doesn’t seem as high-tech as the carbon weave of the Ribtect 3, I had seen pictures but I assumed it was a preliminary photo. How is the price compared to the Ribtect 3? Definitely getting the 4!!

March 4, 2014 at 10:30 am #23182Robby MottParticipant
Same price as the Ribtect3 – $199

Thanks Robby,
Order placed with Acceleration Kart Racing, they will receive them in a couple of days, I just had my DD2 engine rebuilt with them and bought a ton of parts from them too. Those guys are amazing especially Josh Michalosky (mechanic/tech support) which is the person that I’ve been dealing with.
Thanks you ALL for you help and comments!! This site is AWESOME!!
