      first two numbers in the engine code.

      62 = 2000

      63 = 2001

      64 = 2002

      65 = 2003………. and so on. (I THINK)

      Is this the number on the plate below the output shaft? Number there is 901444.

      if the numbers are slightly worn down you could be mistaking the 6 for a 9??

      in which case the motor would have 1998 crankcase.

      don’t take my word for it however.

      OK,  After much staring and swearing it appears that the number is actually 5901444.

      That would appear to make it a ’97. Yes?
