LeCont Joins the Korus Group
The Korus ecosystem is enriched by a new and valuable element with the entry into the Group of LeCont, a historic Italian brand producing racing tyres and specialising in the karting sector.
Following its founding in 2017 and subsequent expansions, culminating in 2025 with the creation of the karting division and the rebranding to Korus, the Group continues its growth and expansion through the acquisition of one of the leading tire manufacturers in the global karting scene. The tradition and prestige of the LeCont brand strengthen a unique motorsport offering, capable of creating an unparalleled industrial and technological bridge between the worlds of karting and open- and closed-wheel racing.
Official supplier of the FIA Karting World Championships KZ, KZ2, and KZ Masters, LeCont represents Italian excellence in the production of high-performance tires for motorsports. From its headquarters in Rovereto, within one of Europe’s leading rubber technology hubs, the company develops and produces over 500,000 kart tires annually, distributed on circuits and in major international markets. At the same time, LeCont is expanding its commitment to the motorsports sector through new projects and dedicated product lines.
Thanks also to the role and foresight of the Autonomous Province of Trento, which, through its Department of Economic Development, Labor, University, and Research, has supported and encouraged the development and consolidation of an elite industrial enterprise in the area, in 2019 LeCont acquired part of the historic Marangoni plants, now part of the Rovereto Rubber Technology Center. This strategic move not only further increased production capacity but also strengthened its ties to a region characterized by a long tradition and specialized expertise in the rubber sector.
In keeping with the continuity of the industrial project and its strong roots in tradition and the local area, founders Valter and Sergio Cont have also become shareholders of Korus, following the method consolidated over the years of placing the companies’ long-standing leaders at the center of the Group’s project, both operationally and financially.
LeCont’s current production capacity is now expected to grow to approximately 700,000 tires per year, thanks in part to the development of its dedicated racing lines.
With a consolidated presence in Europe, Asia, America, and Australia, and thanks to its constant focus on strategic international markets, LeCont is now recognized as a leading player in the racing tire industry, distinguished by quality, technological innovation, and a constant pursuit of performance.
“LeCont’s entry into the Korus Group represents not just a point of arrival for us, but the beginning of a new phase of development,” stated Valter and Sergio Cont. ” We have chosen to fully believe in this project, not only by bringing LeCont into an industrial group that is a benchmark in motorsports, but also by becoming one of Korus’s main investors ourselves. This decision demonstrates our desire to continue to be an active part of this journey and to contribute, with the experience we’ve gained over many years in the sector, to the growth of the entire Group. LeCont brings its history, expertise, and strong Italian industrial identity to Korus, while also finding new opportunities, skills, and resources to accelerate its development in karting and motorsports. For us, it means continuing what we’ve built to date and, above all, looking to the future with even greater ambition.”
“LeCont’s acquisition is something we strongly desired and one that makes us particularly proud,” said Korus Group CEO Giovanni Delfino.” The vision, experience, and method developed by Valter and Sergio Cont over the brand’s decades of history represent significant added value not only in the karting sector, but also in the overall development of the group’s motorsport offering. LeCont is Korus’s fifth acquisition in less than a year, a valuable addition to our ambitious growth strategy, which will soon see us leading exciting new chapters.”
With the addition of LeCont, the Korus Group now brings together motorsport specialists capable of bringing passion, innovation, and engineering expertise to circuits around the world every day: Tatuus Racing, ATM-Autotecnica Motori, Breda Racing, YCOM, Next Solution Technologies, Birelart, Kart Republic, IAME, and LeCont.
