The unfamiliar 1,647-metre circuit provided exactly the test expected of it. Drivers faced intense heat, tightly packed racing and a demanding weekend as the penultimate round of the 2026 Champions of the Future Academy Program International Series unfolded at the Aspar Circuit.

Mayson Hibbert was unbeatable throughout the weekend, while Mitansh Jain, Veer Chopra, Axel Nocom and Sebastian Verger Morell added their names to the list of Final winners across two very different days of racing.

Jain and Nocom divide the Junior victories

Axel Nocom set the pace on Saturday, taking pole position and winning the opening Qualifying Heat before Mitansh Jain responded with victory in Qualifying Heat 2.

Jain carried that momentum into the Final and secured the win after a close fight with Julia Angelard, who finished second. Alessandro Gonzalez completed the podium following an impressive drive through the field, with Christian Faye Lund and Jamie Ehrat rounding out the top five.

Nocom returned to the front on Sunday. He topped Time Qualifying and won the second heat, while Zoltan Coigny claimed Qualifying Heat 1. The Final brought another close contest as Vicente Capela challenged for the lead, but Nocom regained control to take his first Final victory of the weekend. Capela finished second, Coigny recovered to third, and Ehrat and Jain completed the top five.

With one event remaining, Jain leads the series standings with 374 points, just two ahead of Coigny. Nocom remains firmly involved on 361, followed by Diar Islami and Angelard.

Eight sessions, eight wins for Hibbert

Hibbert delivered a flawless Mini 60 weekend, topping both Time Qualifying sessions and winning all four Qualifying Heats and both Finals.

Saturday’s Final remained closely contested to the flag. Alexandr Macháč finished second ahead of Adam Pirvu, Ilyas Sami and David Sheetov, but none could find a way past Hibbert.

The British driver completed the sweep on Sunday despite another determined challenge from behind. Sheetov charged through to secure second on the final lap, with Samar Chopra third, Macháč fourth and Dominic Vera Roa fifth.

Hibbert’s perfect Aspar score has transformed the title fight. Sami remains the series leader with 359 points, but Hibbert has closed to within seven. Maximilian Schilling holds third, ahead of Mik Klinkers and Pirvu.

Chopra and Verger Morell rise to the occasion

Angelina Simons Torres controlled Saturday’s Senior qualifying programme, taking pole position and winning both Qualifying Heats. Ina Karine Rostad remained close throughout, but the Final belonged to Veer Chopra.

Starting fourth, Chopra worked his way to the front and secured a crucial victory ahead of Rostad. Verger Morell finished third on his series debut, followed by Jagrat Detroja and Marcel Matyjewicz.

Sunday brought Verger Morell’s breakthrough. Matyjewicz began the day on pole, but Verger Morell won both heats to secure the front of the Final grid. From there, he completed a lights-to-flag victory, with Michal Zajac second and Rostad securing her second podium of the weekend. Simons Torres and Eias Lehmann completed the top five.

Chopra leaves Aspar leading the series standings with 417 points. Detroja remains within reach on 399, with Zajac third on 376. Simons Torres and Lehmann complete the leading five heading into the finale.

One final event remains

Aspar produced five different Final winners, a perfect eight-session sweep and three title fights that remain open as the International Series prepares for its final event of 2026 at Franciacorta.
