Round Two for Cup Karts North America East Division Moves Location
The following is a statement from Cup Karts North America on the location move for the second round of the CKNA East Division.
As some of you may know, some unforeseen hurdles have come up regarding our race on the 4th of July weekend at Kelly’s Motorsports Park. These issues were 100% out of our control and came up with little notice. CKNA, alongside a handful of our sponsors has been working diligently with the staff at Kelly’s and the city of Batavia to try and overcome these hurdles and get Kelly’s reopened in time for our race. Despite the best efforts of all involved, it no longer seems like holding our race a planned at Kelly’s will be possible.
Thankfully, we have been working on alternative options throughout this process, and we do have a plan. We held off making this announcement as long as possible because we wanted nothing more to bring this race to Kelly’s on the 4th. It would have been a great boost to them as well as the city of Batavia.
INTRODUCING: LAFAYETTE MOTORSPORTS PARK
As the local karting community in New York became aware that there may be issues for us, the folks at Lafayette Motorsports Park reached out and offered to help. Their 0.5 mile track is nestled in to the woods north of Syracuse, NY; and was repaved just a few short years ago. The track features elevation changes and great viewing for all the mechanics and spectators. As a family owned and operated track, we felt it was a great fit to move our 4th of July event to.
REGISTRATION WILL OPEN ASAP!
Thank you for your patience. We obviously have a lot to do, adding a new facility to our registration system and working out all the logistics. Parking at LaFayette will be tight, so we are taking some extra time to measure and make sure we can fit everybody in.
As we have long been expecting a great turnout for this weekend, we still plan on this being a 3-day weekend (July 3-5), with a full day of practice on Friday, July 3.
Registration will open in just a few short days, once we have a parking map dialed in. We know this is a last minute change and really appreciate everybody’s flexibility. Thank you to everybody behind the scenes that helped. We regret that we can’t race at Kelly’s this year but are extremely excited for the opportunity to add a new track to the CKNA family. The show will go on… and it will be a great event!
