Orlando Kart Center Era May Come to End
For nearly two decades, the Orlando Kart Center has been a pivotal karting venue in Florida and for many organizations. Situated in the metro-Orlando area, OKC has welcomed multiple series and major events during its tenure, hosting both national and international programs at the central Florida facility.
On Wednesday, May 13, Orlando Kart Center owner Andre Martins made a video post to the social media accounts of the facility discussing its future. In his video statement, Martins announced that he will be shutting down the facility by the end of June.
Back in April, Martins published a video post describing his current personal situation that was part of his absence at the facility, stating that his wife had been suffering from depression. In his latest statement, Andre thanked the karting community for their encouraging words and show of support for he and his family.
In the latest video, Martins announced that he is seeking to find a buyer for the facility. On-track actions, including rental karts and karting events, will no longer be hosted after June unless a new owner takes over. Andre stated in his video statement that garage owners will be able to operate after the track shuts down or until a new owner takes over. He has already began seeking potential buyers of the facility.
Below is the video statement.
