Margay Racing has added the Kansas City Karting Association and JRP Speedway to their Ignite program

Margay Racing, LLC is excited to announce that two more local clubs have been added to the spec Ignite Karting program in 2026. Kansas City Karting Association and JRP Speedway will both include Ignite classes in their respective class structures.

“Our long-standing goal is to grow karting and Ignite provides the platform for fun, competitive and affordable kart racing where the emphasis is on the driver, said Margay Racing Owner Keith Freber.

Since 2014, Ignite Karting has stood as the largest spec karting program in the United States. In addition to local Ignite clubs and the regional Ignite Challenge, Ignite Karting has raced at famous venues over the years like Daytona International Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Circuit of the Americas, and more.

“With the addition of two new Ignite venues in the Midwest, the Ignite footprint continues to grow and our Ignite racers have even more great options for racing. We are very pleased to work with both KCKA and JRP Speedway and look forward to putting more karters on track with both venues,” said Freber.

Kansas City Karting Association (KCKA) serves the greater Kansas City area and more. Dating all the way back to the 1960s, the club competes primarily at the Liberty Sprint Track in Liberty, MO with occasional visits to the Lake Garnett Sprint Track in Garnett, KS. Ignite Junior (Age 12-15) and Ignite Senior (Age 15+) will both be included in the 2026 KCKA class structure.

Since 2017, David Gharst has led KCKA as its club president. “We sincerely appreciate the chance to integrate the Ignite program into KCKA,” said Gharst. “Their support and forward-thinking have made this partnership a reality, and I am genuinely enthusiastic about the positive effects it will have on our participants.” Gharst has also served as President for the KART Mid-American Road Racing Series.

JRP Speedway is located in Tulsa, OK and has been open since 1995. Track owner Alf Gebhardt won the 1981 24 Hours of Daytona with BMW in the GTO category. New for 2026 is the JRP Racing League, which will include the Ignite Senior class.

Lisa Reagle joined JRP’s efforts as co-promoter in 2026. “The integration of the Ignite program into JRP for 2026 marks a strategic step forward in building a more structured, competitive, and unified environment for our drivers,” said Reagle. “This isn’t just growth; it’s alignment with the standard we expect moving forward. We’re super excited about this opportunity and thank everyone at Margay for helping pull this together for us.” Reagle is also founder of a racing nonprofit in Tulsa called Opportunity Ride.

Leading into Ignite Karting’s 13th season, there are now eight different local Ignite programs in six different U.S. states. Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma join Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska as states with local tracks that utilize the Ignite platform.
