The September edition of the 2025 eKartingNews.com Shifterkart Driver Rankings presented by Stilo USA features only some changes across the now 150 drivers that make up the standings. Only three events were added to the total for 12-month moving period for each driver’s total, including just four events from 2024 in the latest totals, leaving just six races left on the calendar for 2025 to name the EKN Driver of the Year. Currently leading that chase is Magik Kart USA driver AJ Myers.

The three-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion improved his score slightly with a victory at the Stars Championship Series finale, leading the EKN standings by 48 points, now ahead of last year’s Driver of the Year Matheus Morgatto (PSL Karting / Birelart). The Brazilian claimed the 2025 Stars Championship Series title, and improved his score to jump over Billy Musgrave (Factory Karts) for the second spot in the standings. The 2025 SKUSA Pro Tour champion lost points from last month, and now trails by 109 points to Myers.

That was the only move in the top-10 for the EKN Driver Rankings. Still in fourth is Kyle Wick (GFC Karting), who lost 52 points but maintains his position. Gaining two points and remaining in fifth is Gavin Bayliff (TKG Birelart USA). The driver from Ohio is preparing for a trip to the FIA Karting World Cup in KZ2, set to take place on October 9-12 at the Franciacorta Karting Track in Italy.

Sixth place remains at Michael Avansino (Ron White Racing / CRG) holding the position. Avansino lost 15 points, as did many of the drivers who took part in the ProKart Challenge K1 Circuit doubleheader. Justin White (Maranello USA) improved his score in the seventh position. A total of 41 points were added to his standings with a fourth place result at the Stars Championship Series finale at Trackhouse Motorplex. Jacob Gulick (GFC Karting) remains in the eighth spot. He lost 39 points in total, but gained a third place podium finish at the recent ProKart Challenge event at Sonoma Raceway. Charlies Stines (Factory Fury / GP Kart) and Vincenzo Sarracino (Presti Racing / Croc Promotion) complete the top 10. Stines improved by 22 points with a P8 at Stars while Sarracino’s points stayed static.

The EKN ‘On the Move’ for August is French driver Adrien Renaudin (Velocity Racing / Sodi Kart). Now with six events in the USA under his belt – including three SKUSA Pro Tour races and three at the Stars Championship Series – Renaudin is now inside the top 50, sitting 26th. Adrien finished 11th on the SKUSA Pro Tour championship standings and third in Stars title chase behind Morgatto and Myers.

The ‘Magik Man’ continues to have the bar set for the EKN Driver Rankings. He has shown to be the most consistent driver across the board over the last 12 months, finally picking up his first win of the 2025 season with victory at the Stars Championship Series finale from Trackhouse Motorplex. That result improved his score with the drop of last year’s Stars finale from his total. While it is not the season Myers hoped for when 2025 began, he is in the pole position for the run to Driver of the Year.

The 2024 EKN Driver of the Year is now one step closer to back-to-back seasons at the #1 spot. The two-time defending SKUSA Winter Series champion did not put together the exact results he wanted during the SKUSA Pro Tour in his title defense. The Brazilian ended up finishing fifth in the final standings after the SummerNationals, recording only one podium finish. Morgatto closed out the summer season with his first Stars Championship Series title, becoming the fifth different champion in five years. Runner-up at the Stars season finale improved his score, setting the stage for redemption at the SKUSA SuperNationals.

Shifterkart #3 – Billy Musgrave

The loss of two results from the 2024 ProKart Challenge event at K1 Circuit, including one win dropped the point total for Musgrave. The Factory Karts ‘godfather’ is still riding on his first career SKUSA Pro Tour championship in July, winning at his last event out for the PKC at Sonoma. His point total will likely remain the same prior to heading into the SKUSA SuperNationals 28 where Musgrave will attempt to become the first six-time winner at the event, racing both Pro Shifter and Master Shifter for a second straight year.

EKN Driver Rankings Calculation Process
The EKN Driver Rankings are calculated using a driver’s best finishes in major North American races. Assembled using events from the previous 12 months from the current date, we use a driver’s best seven finishes in the TaG and Shifterkart categories to determine their overall current point total. With each new release, results posted from more than one year ago are discarded. To deliver our ranking list, we tabulate the results of all the national programs and selected regional programs. We have also included the results for the major one-off events such as the SKUSA SuperNationals, the Rock Island Grand Prix, and other special races.

Each race is initially weighted based on the prestige and history of the event or series with a score of ten (10) being the highest attainable base ranking. For 2024, the SKUSA SuperNationals will receive a score of 10 in its initial weighting in the TaG and Shifterkart categories. A base ranking of 9.5 is awarded to special events of ROK Vegas, US Trophy Final, Rock Island Grand Prix, and IAME Grand National Championship. The core of the schedule featuring SKUSA Pro Tour, SKUSA Winter Series, United States Pro Kart Series, Florida Winter Tour, and Challenge of the Americas begin with a base ranking of 9. Other programs such as ProKart Challenge, Stars Championship Series, ROK Sonoma and others given a base ranking of either 8.5 or 8.0.

The EKN staff reserves the right to adjust the rankings of each event throughout the year. A minimum entry total for any event to be considered for the Driver Rankings program is five (5). If an event does not have at least five (5) drivers starting the race, those results will not be tabulated toward the Driver Rankings.

Added to these initial rankings are two variables that help confirm the true importance of an event to the ranking process – field size and field strength. A percentage of one weighting point is added for the size of the field, while the number of existing top-50 drivers entered offers another full point or fraction of a point. The sum of these numbers becomes the overall ranking for any race.

Following a race, drivers receive points based on their finishing positions with 100 points earned for a win. Each subsequent position drops by one point with 99 points given to the second-place driver and so on throughout the field. These points are then multiplied by the overall ranking to produce a driver’s final point total from each event. Using a driver’s best seven races, we calculate each driver’s overall score and subsequent ranking.
