Gap between Norberg and Garrison shrinks as Ramos joins top three

Ryan Norberg continues leading the EKN TaG Driver Rankings (Photo: On Track Promotions - otp.ca)

The August release of the 2025 eKartingNews.com TaG Driver Rankings presented by Stilo USA has changed across the board, except for three of the 252 drivers listed holding their position from last month. The 2025 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals made another impact on the 12-month standings with now the second half of 2024 combined with the first half of the 2025 season making up each driver’s points. The top two positions remain unchanged with Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic) and Austin Garrison (Speed Concepts Racing / CS55) sitting 1-2 as recent SKUSA Pro Tour winner Diego Ramos (PSL Karting / Birelart) jumps to third.

Despite the uncharacteristic weekend for Norberg at the SummerNationals in New Castle, Norberg only lost one point in his standings total thanks to previous results. The gap, however, back to Garrison is now only 58 points. USPKS and the IAME USA Grand National Championship are still to come along with the SKUSA SuperNationals 28. Ramos had a career defining weekend at the SKUSA Pro Tour finale, improving two spots to third thanks to two podium results at NCMP.

The advancement of Ramos demoted Canadian Ayden Ingratta (Speed Concepts Racing / CS55) to fourth. Ingratta improved his score with a P6 Saturday at the SummerNationals, however, not enough to retain the third position in the standings. Also moving down one position is Caden McQueen (Velocity Racing / Sodi Kart). The British driver has been a major impact to the USA scene, however, his first start in X30 with the new team and new chassis only resulted in a best finish of 12th at New Castle. Holding onto the sixth position is EKN Driver of the Month for June 2025 – Pauly Massimino (Brandon Jarsocrak Racing / LN Racing Kart). The recent USPKS race winner improved his score with a P4 Saturday at the SummerNationals, finishing the championship in the third position to hold the #3 plate in 2026.

Grabbing his first podium result of the SKUSA Pro Tour season, Blake Nash (Nash Motorsportz / EOS) improved one position to seventh. The Californian was runner-up in Round Five action and won his first Stars Championship Series OK-N main event. Also improving his score and making it into the top 10 for the first time is Ruben Moya (Forward Direction Motorsports / Pantano). Recording eight races now, the driver from Spain improved 27 spots to eighth based around his P4 result at the SKUSA Pro Tour finale, going together with his two third-place results at the SpringNationals and at third at SKUSA SuperNationals 27.

Their promotion dropped Timothy Pernod (PSL Karting / Birelart) and Jensen Burnett (Racing Edge Motorsports / Kosmic). Pernod is down two spots to ninth, recording a best finish of 13th at the SummerNationals. Fellow Canadian Burnett last raced an EKN Driver Rankings event at the SKUSA Winter Series. His string of results during the winter months including a podium at the Rotax Winter Trophy keeps him in the top 10. Falling out of the top 10 is 2023 SKUSA SuperNationals winner Donovan Bonilla (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic), now sitting 13th.

TaG #1 – Ryan Norberg
Orlando, Florida

(Photo: EKN)

Considered as one of the top karters of this generation, it was an uncharacteristic weekend for Norberg at the SummerNationals. Contact at the opening of Saturday Prefinal is part of racing, but the decision to put himself in position to lose the championship in the Sunday main event cost him the chance at a record setting seventh SKUSA Pro Tour championship. Despite the poor weekend at New Castle, the RPG driver only lost one point after dropping last year’s SummerNationals win as it was replaced by the runner-up at the 2025 WinterNationals.

TaG #2 – Austin Garrison
Davie, Florida

(Photo: EKN)

The Speed Concepts Racing driver has had a career defining 12 months dating back to 2024. At the end of last year, Garrison celebrated his first United States Pro Kart Series championship to beat out three-time defending champion Norberg. Now in July, Austin scored a crucial first SummerNationals victory to help him secure his second career SKUSA Pro Tour championship, first in Pro X30 and 11 years after his S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto title in 2014. His win at New Castle improved his score after dropping last year’s runner-up at the 2024 SummerNationals from his score.

TaG #3 – Diego Ramos
Davenport, Florida

(Photo: EKN)

The 2025 SKUSA Pro Tour SummerNationals became the breakthrough weekend that Ramos has been looking for since joining PSL Karting in July 2022. For two straight years, he had a title on the line that did not come to fruition. In 2025, Ramos went double duty and outperformed in KA100 Senior with three wins in six rounds, including a sweep of the action at the SummerNationals to claim his first SKUSA Pro Tour. On the X30 side, the Brazilian was the class of the field. Rain was the only thing to beat him, dropping him down the order in the Saturday Prefinal. He bounced back for a podium and then dominated the action Sunday for his first career victory. Add that to his two wins at the 2025 Rotax Winter Trophy, it has been a career defining season for Ramos.

EKN Driver Rankings Calculation Process
The EKN Driver Rankings are calculated using a driver’s best finishes in major North American races. Assembled using events from the previous 12 months from the current date, we use a driver’s best seven finishes in the TaG and Shifterkart categories to determine their overall current point total. With each new release, results posted from more than one year ago are discarded. To deliver our ranking list, we tabulate the results of all the national programs and selected regional programs. We have also included the results for the major one-off events such as the SKUSA SuperNationals, the Rock Island Grand Prix, and other special races.

Each race is initially weighted based on the prestige and history of the event or series with a score of ten (10) being the highest attainable base ranking. For 2024, the SKUSA SuperNationals will receive a score of 10 in its initial weighting in the TaG and Shifterkart categories. A base ranking of 9.5 is awarded to special events of ROK Vegas, US Trophy Final, Rock Island Grand Prix, and IAME Grand National Championship. The core of the schedule featuring SKUSA Pro Tour, SKUSA Winter Series, United States Pro Kart Series, Florida Winter Tour, and Challenge of the Americas begin with a base ranking of 9. Other programs such as ProKart Challenge, Stars Championship Series, ROK Sonoma and others given a base ranking of either 8.5 or 8.0.

The EKN staff reserves the right to adjust the rankings of each event throughout the year. A minimum entry total for any event to be considered for the Driver Rankings program is five (5). If an event does not have at least five (5) drivers starting the race, those results will not be tabulated toward the Driver Rankings.

Added to these initial rankings are two variables that help confirm the true importance of an event to the ranking process – field size and field strength. A percentage of one weighting point is added for the size of the field, while the number of existing top-50 drivers entered offers another full point or fraction of a point. The sum of these numbers becomes the overall ranking for any race.

Following a race, drivers receive points based on their finishing positions with 100 points earned for a win. Each subsequent position drops by one point with 99 points given to the second-place driver and so on throughout the field. These points are then multiplied by the overall ranking to produce a driver’s final point total from each event. Using a driver’s best seven races, we calculate each driver’s overall score and subsequent ranking.
