Derek Wargo, multi-time karting champion, started his season off with success during the first month of the 2025 season at the World Karting Association (WKA) Daytona KartWeek. Taking place at the famed Daytona International Speedway, Wargo kicked off his final year as a junior driver at one of the country’s biggest and most prestigious karting events., 

Standing on the podium on four occasions over the event week, Wargo earned a pair of third place results to go along with two dominating victories. Posting a top speed of 99.2 MPH in his #888 Drive Your Line Compkart Powered by LAD Specialties, Wargo showed he has what it takes to become a champion in 2025.

Following the Daytona event weekend, Wargo then left Daytona and traveled north to Jacksonville, Florida for the Cup Karts North America Winter Nationals. Competing behind the wheel of his #2 Derek Wargo Racing, Stewart powered LO206, the young driver would post a close P3 qualifying out of a 44-kart field in the Junior class, putting him in good positioning for the weekend.

As the race weekend wore on, Wargo stayed consistent in all his heat races up in the front pack without mistake. In the main event, Wargo started in the third position working his way to second by the close of the first lap. After ten laps of the 18-lap race, Wargo made his bid for the lead, slipping by and holding onto the position to score his first CKNA Winter Nationals victory.

Still not done racing, Wargo headed over to Lafayette, Louisiana for the annual Moore Park Ironman Endurance Race. This race consisted of a ten-minute qualifying where he put the #2 Compkart on the pole, by scoring the fastest lap in qualifying. Following qualifying, a pair of 40-minute stints in opposite directions with a five-minute break in the middle made it challenging for all, but Wargo rose to the occasion. Taking his fourth victory and sixth podium of the young 2025 season, Wargo will now be heading to the West Coast this week to compete with J3 Competition as a factory driver in several Rotax Max karting events.
