2025 FIA Karting Academy Trophy USA Driver Application Process Now Open
The FIA Karting Academy Trophy program is an international series with the goal of providing cost-effective competition. Notable names to be crowned FIA Karting Academy champion include Charles Leclerc (2011), Callum Bradshaw (2016) and USA driver Connor Zilisch (2020). The most recent driver to represent the United States of America at the program is Turner Brown, finishing fifth in the 2024 championship program.
New for the 2025 FIA Karting Academy Trophy is the addition of the Senior category. Drivers 14 years old to 16 years old are eligible to compete in the new division while keeping the 12 years old to 14 years old for the Junior division. Drivers must be in this age range at the time of events: May-September 2025.
United States Auto Club (USAC) is the official member of ACCUS to recognize a karting driver with a USA license to be nominated to take part in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy. USAC is now taking applications from drivers to take part in the 2025 FIA Karting Academy Trophy as a USA representatives.
Here are specifics surrounding the program:
- The FIA Karting Academy Trophy Junior is a three race series contested across three tracks in different European countries. Valencia (ESP) – May 15-18; Mulsen (DEU) July 17-20; Cremona (ITA) September 25-28
- The FIA Karting Academy Trophy Senior is a three race series contested across three tracks in different European countries. Portimao (PRT) May 1-4; Viterbo (ITA) June 5-8; Rodby (DNK) July 31-August 3
- All karts are equally prepared and issued to the drivers upon arrival
- The USA nominees are responsible for all expenses incurred traveling to/from the event and at the event.
- Applications must be submitted in full to USAC by January 10, 2025.

FIA Academy Trophy participation with following restrictions:
- No point scored in a previous/current FIA Karting Championship event on the same class
- No top 15 in Intermediate or Final classifications
- No participation in parallel in the FIA Karting European Championship even as a Wild Card
- No participation in the three weeks before the Academy round on the same circuit
- Maximum 2 participations (in the same class or cumulated on two classes)
Academy Senior
Drivers who have scored at least one point in an FIA Karting European Championship -OK event or have been ranked in the top 15 of the Intermediate Classification, or of the Final Intermediate classification or in the Final of the FIA Karting World Championship -OK, in the previous and/or current year, are not allowed to participate in the FIA Karting Senior Academy Trophy.
Drivers are not authorisedto participate in a Competition, Championship, Cup, Trophy or Series registered on the International Sporting Calendar in the OK category in the three weeks preceding any FIA Karting Trophy Competition taking place on Portimao, Viterbo and Rodby circuits.
Drivers are not authorized to participate in the FIA Karting European Championship -OK in parallel of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy -Senior, even as a «Wild Card» Driver.
A Driver can take part a maximum of two times in the FIA Karting Senior Academy Trophy or a maximum of 2 combined entries in Junior Academy and Senior Academy, except the top three Drivers in the general classification of the Trophy of any prior year, who are not allowed to participate a second time in the Trophy.
Academy Junior
Drivers who have scored at least one point in an FIA Karting European Championship -Junior event or have been ranked in the top 15 of the Intermediate Classification, or of the Final Intermediate classification or in the Final of the FIA Karting World Championship -Junior, in the previous and/or current year, are not allowed to participate in the FIA Karting Junior Academy Trophy.
Drivers are not authorized to participate in a Competition, Championship, Cup, Trophy or Series registered on the International Sporting Calendar in the Junior category in the three weeks preceding any FIA Karting Trophy Competition taking place on the Kartodromo Guerrero (Valencia), Mülsen and Cremona circuits.
Drivers are not authorized to participate in any round of the FIA Karting European Championship -Junior, in parallel of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy -Junior, even as a «Wild Card» Driver.
A Driver can take part a maximum of two times in the FIA Karting Junior Academy Trophy or a maximum of 2 combined entries in Junior Academy and Senior Academy, except the top three Drivers in the general classification of the Trophy of any prior year, who are not allowed to participate a second time in the Trophy.
