Kartplex Partnering with UNISUS School to Launch the Motorsports Scholar-Athlete Academy
UNISUS School has announced the launch of the Motorsports Scholar-Athlete Academy in partnership with Kartplex at Area 27. This unique, year-round program runs in the afternoons during the school week and is designed for dedicated Scholar-Athletes who have already started their journey in karting and are looking to take their racing skills to the next level.
Based in British Columbia, UNISUS is a school that offers the International Baccalaureate and boarding, delivering a personalized education experience that enables each student to power their unique potential while preparing them for tomorrow’s rapidly changing world.
Kartplex at Area 27 is a state of the art karting facility located in Oliver, British Columbia, roughly an hour away from UNISUS School. Area 27 is an exclusive membership based luxury motorsport club, designed by Formula One champion Jacques Villeneuve. The Canadian motorsports legend is involved on the karting side, designing the 1.21km Kartplex circuit and developed the Villeneuve Kart brand – distributed worldwide by RaceLab.
The Motorsports Scholar-Athlete Academy at UNISUS School in partnership with Kartplex is set to launch in September 2025. No other academy worldwide combines a rigorous academic program with year-round karting skill development and racing.
Kartplex will provide all of the on track activities as well as specific in-class sessions trackside in addition to the education on campus at UNISUS. In class specifics with Kartplex will include technical training, data analysis, video analysis, business and networking for motorsports, fitness, and mental skills. Herolab will now provide mental skills training for all student athletes at the school including their skiers, hockey players and other sports.
To create opportunities for those new to karting, UNISUS is also launching their Rookie Racer Program, a perfect introduction to motorsports or for intermediate racers not registered as students at UNISUS. Running for eight Saturdays in spring and fall, the Rookie Racer Program will take students from the UNISUS campus in Summerland to Kartplex for a full day of karting, where they’ll learn racing fundamentals, karting skills, introduction to kart mechanics and engineering, culminating in an exhilarating club race day.
On top of their eight week spring and fall Saturday programming, UNISUS is also offer an exciting seven or 14 day summer camp in July.
All Rookie Racer programs are open to both UNISUS students and to the public with limited spots available. Families interested in the Rookie Racer Program are encouraged to register soon. Application deadline is April 1, 2025.
