Back in May, K1 RaceGear announced a partnership with Freem (Free Minds SRL), one of the world’s leading providers of high-quality motorsports safety gear and apparel. For the past 10 years, K1 RaceGear has continuously evolved and outperformed market projections by strategically placing their brand in motorsports segments throughout the US that were prime for growth and innovation.

K1 RaceGear has accelerated its search for cutting-edge textiles, better functionality, and a much higher standard of safety for its clients and partners. This search ultimately led K1 RaceGear to the team at Freem.

Here in the United States, Eric Gunderson has taken on the role as Sales and Customer Representative for Freem USA. As a person within the karting industry in the past and former racer himself, Gunderson comes into the role with a unique viewpoint and eagerness to expand the reach of the brand within the sport. In attendance at the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals, Gunderson hit the paddock connecting with different chassis brands, teams and drivers about the latest products available.

“I’m extremely excited to join the team at Freem,” Gunderson told EKN. “Over the last 15 years in motorsport, I have been fortunate to see the sport of karting from a variety of perspectives – competition, officiating, event management, and small business ownership. At each level, I have seen first-hand Freem’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship in action. Our time at SuperNationals was extremely encouraging, and engaging with the racers from all over the country was very rewarding. The feedback these drivers gave us pairs closely with new innovations we have coming in the near future, and gives us confidence as we head into 2025.”

The combination of Freem and K1 Race Gear provides a full line of safety gear, including a wide range of suits, gloves, shoes and rib vests. K1 Race Gear products include a full slate of products from head socks, gloves, neck braces, rib protectors, suits and more. Its line is focused on those who compete in rental kart competition and maybe just starting out at the club level.

The Freem products are geared toward those in the competition side of karting, racing at the regional, national and international level. Their bespoke racewear, including the Apex 3 and K1 Kart Racer Pro suits are CIK/FIA homologated for competition. Two models of gloves along with the Sensitive D07K shoes, Road Runner neck brace and Brave rib protector complete your safety gear assembly.

“My role at Freem is evolving, and changes almost daily,” added Gunderson. “That said, my daily goal is to facilitate sales growth of the Freem karting line, ensure our partners are receiving consistent service and communication, and leverage my years of experience in the industry to further cement Freem’s presence in North America as the leader in bespoke racewear and teamwear.”
