The final event of the 2024 United States Pro Kart Series presented by IAME USA East and MG Tires is set to take place this weekend – September 27-29 – with the running of the Indiana Grand Prix at the New Castle Motorsports Park. The 12th season of the program, making its 12th visit to the New Castle, Indiana facility will decide this year’s champions with the fifth and final round of action in the title chase for the seven categories that will feature roughly 200 entries.

The New Castle Motorsports Park was built in 2003 and began hosting events in 2004. Several major karting championships have gone to the large facility, featuring over 50 different layouts at several unique lengths. The standard ‘National’ 1-mile layout in the counter-clockwise direction is to be utilized over the weekend for the fifth round of the United States Pro Kart Series 2024 championship program.

Four practice sessions will be held on Friday before diving into qualifying to close out the day. Three rounds of heat races will be contested at 12 laps each, including the A-B-C-D format for the KA100 Junior and KA100 Senior categories. Heat points will be calculated at the end of Saturday to set the grids for the main events on Sunday. This year’s championship format will count all five weekends, with no drop race and includes points available through qualifying, all heat races and the Finals.

The championship in the X30 Pro division presented by Rolison Performance Group has Wisconsin GP winner Austin Garrison (SCR / CS55) holding a 196-point lead over Alessandro de Tullio (Inter MS / Kart Republic). Garrison has been the most consistent driver over the four rounds of racing, including three top-five finishes over the opening three rounds. De Tullio has three podium finishes but an unfortunate DNF from Wisconsin while fighting for a podium spot. Sitting third in the title chase is Pauly Massimino (BJR/MDR / LN Racing Kart), coming off his lone podium result of the season in Ohio. Two-time race winner and four-time defending champion Ryan Norberg (RPG / Kosmic) has work to be done and some help in order to break the tie with Brandon Jarsocrak for most consecutive championships. Norberg trails by 277 points, however with the 725 maximum points up for grabs, anything is still possible. Canadians Ayden Ingratta (RPG / Kosmic) and Lucas Deslongchamps (RPG / Kosmic) will be making their season debuts this weekend with Austin Olds (MPG / Kart Republic) returning after an impressive debut weekend at the Ohio Grand Prix.

Four different drivers have won over the four rounds of racing for the KA100 Senior division presented by Brandon Jarsocrak Racing. Neither of the two championship drivers have stood at the top of the podium on the season with AJ Myers (Magik Kart USA) and Cooper Shipman (IRM / Tony Kart) separated by 20 points. Myers has two runner-up results over the last two rounds heading to New Castle, where the 2014 USPKS champion has been successful over the last 10 years. Shipman comes in with a best finish of third at the opening round, needing to make up the 20 points over the three days of Round Five. Cameron Weinberg (CDR / Kart Republic) and Round Four winner James Overbeck (BJR/MDR / LN Racing Kart) still mathematically in the championship. Brandon Lemke (LN Racing Kart) could play spoiler, coming back to run. Others include Finnegan Bayliff (TKG / Kart Republic), Wisconsin GP winner Mick Gabriel (AEM / Kosmic), Fernando Luque (Supertune USA / LN Racing Kart), privateer Eli Warren (Redspeed) and Henry Wheeler (PSL / Birel ART). Stephen Eisert is making the move back to SpeedSense Motorsports for the finale after racing with Sodi Racing USA all season.

The championship in the X30 Junior class presented by Speed Concepts Racing is in the hands of Diego Ardiles (SCR / CS55). The two-time winner on the season holds a 364-point lead heading into the series final with Jackson Wolny (SCR / Kart Republic) and Round Two winner Enzo Vidmontiene (TKG / Kart Republic) the drivers that need help in order to challenge Ardiles for the top spot in the standings. Round Four victor Turner Brown (RPG / Kosmic) will not be in the USA on the weekend, racing at WSK event in Italy. The field is welcoming Brazilian Augustus Toniolo (RPG / Kosmic) back to the USA for his first USPKS of the season. Part of the reason for the season high total of 24 drivers in the field this weekend is six female drivers, including Sarah Bradley (SCR / Sodi Kart) fighting for a top-five spot in the standings and Payton Westcott (RPG / Kosmic) making her first class start.

The largest class of the event is KA100 Junior presented by BBS Race Engines at 45 drivers. Sebastian Garzon (Orsolon / Tony Kart) scored victory at the Ohio Grand Prix, putting him at the top of the championship chase. Turner Brown (RPG / Kosmic) sits second, but his absence from New Castle will gift Garzon a 243-point advantage in the championship chase with Diego Ardiles (SCR / CS55) now the top challenger. US Trophy Final winner Davin Roberts (RPM / Kosmic) and two-time winner Enzo Vidmontiene (TKG / Kart Republic) remain mathematically in the chase, needing a lot of help. Isaac Malcuit (PSL / Birel ART) leads the contenders outside the championship standings to fight for the victory on the weekend, among with double duty drivers Westcott, Toniolo, Michael McGaughy (RPM / Tony Kart) and others.

KA100 Masters presented by Nash Motorsportz has also seen four different drivers win over the four rounds in 2024. Three of the drivers will be in New Castle, trying to be the first two-time winner – Adam Crepin (FMS / Gillard), Scott Kopp (FMS / Redspeed) and Clay Settles (Top Kart). Three drivers in the championship chase are vying to be the fifth different winner in order to clinch a championship. Niki Coello (FMS / Merlin) holds a 234-point lead over Martin Stone (RPG / Kosmic) with former champion Laurentiu Mardan (Tecno Kart USA) a close third. Mario Barrios (RPG / Kosmic) is vying to play spoiler, along with former champion David Galownia (Birel ART) and local driver Tyler Prestel (AFK / Kosmic). The weekend, which features the season high of 17 drivers also features the return of former SKUSA Pro Tour champion Scott Falcone (Orsolon / Tony Kart) after four years away from the sport.

Three drivers are within 258 points heading into the weekend for the Mini Swift championship presented by Sodi Racing USA. Trackhouse winner Parker Ives (RPM / Nitro Kart) leads the standings with Royce Vega (Team Benik) trailing by 247 points. Two-time winner Ashton Woon (Supertune / Parolin) is back in third after recording a DQ in Ohio. Both Vega and Woon will need an event sweep with help in order to move Ives off the top step of the championship podium. Marco Sammut (BJR/MDR / LN Racing Kart) and Nico Orbezo (RPG / Kosmic) still have a chance at moving up in the standings with strong weekend at New Castle.

Three wins puts Zayne Burgess (Sodi Racing USA) into a good position for the Micro Swift presented by Team Ferris Racing championship. Burgess leads the title chase by 342 points over Santiago Orioli (MPG / Kart Republic) with Cameron Johnson (FMS / Merlin) in third. Hudson Howard (TKG / Alonso Kart) is coming off win at the Route 66 Sprint Series while Danny O’Gara (MPG / Kart Republic) secured that series championship, set to make his first start of the season.

On the line this weekend is the coveted Geo Cup trophy for the team championship. The program moved to a win-based program, led after four events by defending Geo Cup champion Rolison Performance Group. Their six wins leads Trinity Karting Group, who has five wins over Sodi Racing USA with four. A $5,000 check will also be awarded to the winning team for the 2024 Geo Cup standings.
