The penultimate event of the 2024 United States Pro Kart Series presented by IAME USA East and MG Tires is set to take place this weekend – August 9-11 – with the running of the Ohio Grand Prix at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati. This will mark the second straight year the program has visited the Batavia, Ohio facility, with Round Four action of the 2024 championship chase to take place. Entries are nearing the 200 mark for the seven divisions set to battle over the weekend.

The Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati opened in 2007 as a member-owned facility, not welcoming competition karting until the recent years. The facility transferred ownership to the Bayliff family and their partners in 2020, extending the circuit to nearly 1-mile long and 16 turns in 2022.

Four practice sessions will be held on Friday before diving into qualifying to close out the day. Three rounds of heat races will be contested at 12 laps each, including the A-B-C-D format for the KA100 Junior and KA100 Senior categories. Heat points will be calculated at the end of Saturday to set the grids for the main events on Sunday. This year’s championship format will count all five weekends, with no drop race and includes points available through qualifying, all heat races and the Finals.

Wisconsin Grand Prix winner Austin Garrison (SCR / CS55) leads the championship chase in the X30 Pro presented by Rolison Performance Group. He holds a 393-point advantage over British driver Brandon Carr (Trinity / Kart Republic) – who has a best finish of fourth over the first three rounds. Third is Pauly Massimino (BJR / LN Racing Kart) who also has a best finish of fourth thus far on the season. Alessandro de Tullio (Inter MS / Kart Republic) is fourth in the championship chase, having placed on the podium in third, twice before missing out on a third straight in Wisconsin with a DNF in the final corner. Three-time defending champion Ryan Norberg (RPG / Kosmic) is coming off two DNF finishes after taking the top spot in Texas. He trails by 547 points with a maximum of 725 points available each weekend. Harley Keeble comes in as the defending race winner, making his third start with Inter MS / Kart Republic after leaving Sodi Racing USA in June.

Same with the KA100 Senior presented by Brandon Jarsocrak Racing, there have been three different winners over the first three rounds. Alan Isambard (Sodi Racing USA), Pauly Massimino (BJR / LN Racing Kart), and Mick Gabriel (AEM / Kosmic) stood on top of the podium over the first three rounds. None of them lead the championship, with the position held by Texan Cooper Shipman (IRM / Tony Kart). He has finished third, fifth and fourth over the first three rounds to be the more consistent driver thus far. AJ Myers (Magik Kart USA) is only 53 points out of the championship lead with a best result of runner-up in Wisconsin. Christian Miles (Racelab / TB Kart) and Jesus Vasquez Jr. (GFC Karting) will not be in Ohio, thus moving Cameron Weinberg (CDR / Kart Republic) up into third in the championship chase. Isambard is now fourth with Connor Ferris (TFR / Kart Republic) fifth, both needing podium performances moving forward to contend for the championship. James Overbeck (BJR / Tony Kart) is in the same scenario, coming off victory and championship at the SKUSA SummerNationals.

Diego Ardiles has won twice this year in the X30 Junior presented by Speed Concepts Racing. His first win was aboard an RPG / Kosmic entry at Speedsportz before winning in Wisconsin with SCR / CS55 combination. He leads the championship by 252 points over new teammate Jackson Wolny (SCR / Kart Republic). Alexander Vanchev (Sodi Racing USA) and Victor de Alencar (RPG / Kosmic) sit third and fourth in the championship with Trackhouse winner Enzo Vidmontiene (Trinity / Kart Republic) holding fifth after a DNF in Texas. A driver fighting for his first USPKS victory in the category on the season is Turner Brown (RPG / Kosmic). A DQ and DNF over the first three rounds has him eighth in the standings, needing two sweep weekends to put him back in the hunt. The California driver is the defending race winner, coming off a top-five performance at the final round of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy program held in Sweden.

The closest championship fight heading into MCC is in the KA100 Junior presented by BBS Race Engines. Just 133 points separate the top four, led by Sebastian Garzon (Orsolon / Tony Kart) who has a best finish of second in Texas. Turner Brown (RPG / Kosmic) is second, 25 points back with Diego Ardiles (SCR / CS55) third, both without a wins in the class in 2024. Two wins belong to Enzo Vidmontiene (Trinity / Kart Republic), who had a third win taken away in Wisconsin after not passing post-race inspection. That put him down to fourth in the standings with two full rounds remaining. Davin Roberts (RPM / Tony Kart) is fifth in the title chase, seeking his first podium result of the season. Ardiles and Brown were winners at MCC in June for the SpringNationals.

Championship hopes are still alive for three drivers heading into Round Four for the KA100 Masters presented by Nash Motorsportz category. Niki Coello (FMS / Merlin) has yet to win in the first three rounds with a third-place and two runner-up results. It has given him a 128-point advantage over Martin Stone (RPG / Kosmic) with former champion Laurentiu Mardan (Tecno Kart USA) in third. Both are looking for their first win of the season as well with Adam Crepin (FMS / Gillard), Max Papis (Orsolon / Tony Kart) and Scott Kopp (FMS / Redspeed) going one and done with victories. New wildcards that could be the fourth different winner over the four rounds includes fast driver from last year Andy Kutscher (Redspeed), Clay Settles (Top Kart), and Austin Queen (Tony Kart) – all three privateer drivers.

It is a two driver fight for the championship after three rounds in the Sodi Racing USA Mini Swift division. Ashton Woon (Supertune / Parolin) has two wins over the one triumph by class rookie Parker Ives (RPM / Nitro Kart) at Trackhouse. Just 85 points separate the two North Carolina drivers – who both have wins at MCC in 2024 with Woon grabbing both SpringNationals victories and Ives winning last month for the Stars weekend. Texan Royce Vega (Team Benik) is close in third place, needing to improve on his two podium results with a win over the next two rounds. Marco Sammut (BJR / LN Racing Kart) and Nicolas Orbezo (RPG / Kosmic) round out the top-five in the points, both seeking better results to close back in on the top-two.

Despite a two-win streak going into MCC, Zayne Burgess (Sodi Racing USA) only leads the championship in the Micro Swift presented by Team Ferris Racing by 103 points. Santiago Orioli (MPG / Kart Republic) two runner-up results keep him close in the standings. Wynn Godschalk (Team Benik) and Texas GP winner Miguel Suarez (RPG / Kosmic) each have only one podium finish to sit third and fourth in the championship chase while Cameron Johnson (FMS / Merlin) has two top-five finishes to sit fifth. Burgess was able to win both races for the SpringNationals back in June at MCC.
