EKN has learned that the management at New Castle Motorsports Park is moving forward with two exciting endurance events to be held toward the end of the 2024 season.

The New Castle, Indiana facility has confirmed that they have a 2-Cycle endurance event scheduled for the October 4-6 weekend with a headline 200-lap race set to take place on that Sunday. The event will be held the weekend following the United States Pro Kart Series 2024 series finale, which is scheduled for September 27-29.

The history of endurance events at NCMP goes back to the first year of racing at the facility in 2004. The inaugural 200-lap race drew solid participation and was won by Adam Rovazzini and Mark Dismore Jr. The event grew in attendance and prestige over time, eventually signing the table tennis training system ‘RoboPong’ as the event sponsor, adding the company to the event that still only needs that brand name to fuel enthusiastic conversations of its history. It was in 2007 that the race welcomed a staggering 93 teams to compete in TaG machinery in the main event. At its height, the RoboPong 200 welcomed many big names in the sport, including IndyCar, NASCAR, and IMSA drivers. Dan Wheldon, Ricky Rudd, Ed Carpenter, Jay Howard, and Josef Newgarden are among the famous names to earn their spot on the ‘Dan Wheldon Cup’ trophy for winning the race. The last edition was held in 2015, won by Jacob Donald and Brandon Jones of KartSport North America.

Details surrounding the 2-Cycle endurance event are still being pieced together, however, EKN was told the headline 200-lap event will be run with the IAME KA100 engine package. Support categories are also scheduled to be part of the event, including Shifter, KA100 Junior, and Mini Swift.

Two weeks later, the NCMP facility will convert for another endurance event, this time centered on the Briggs & Stratton 206 engine platform. This race, scheduled for October 18-20, is also still under the planning process but has been confirmed by NCMP management.

The four-cycle event will be produced in partnership with the Cup Karts North America organization. This endurance race will be held the weekend following the CKNA Grand Nationals 8, which is scheduled for the NCMP facility on October 10-13. EKN has been told that the endurance event is set to feature a 206-minute race (plus two laps) with the Senior Medium division as the headline category. Support races for Junior, Sportsman, and Cadet classes will be part of the 4-Cycle endurance weekend.
