Registration is now open for the 29th running of the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix Presented by The Hemp Doctor, the world’s largest and most prestigious karting street race, Saturday and Sunday, August 31-September 1.

Registration this year is being handled with the Alpha Timing system through Track Systems North America. Information on this year’s race along with Registration and Supplemental Rules can be found at racerockisland.info, or through registration at:

Time To register! To enter the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix Presented by The Hemp Doctor all you need to do is go to our page on Alpha (see link) and set up an account with an email address. If you already have an Alpha account, you’ve got a head start. You will see a few buttons to register for the event, buy pit passes and to buy products.

For Minors: The parents are advised to create the account under the Minor’s name & information so the appropriate waivers show up for them. Make sure you don’t accidentally sign-up for your child’s class.

For Parents who are also racing and have their minors racing: After they set up an account with their information, they can add their child at the bottom of the main page by clicking “Add New Driver”. From there on, a drop down will show which person you are registering for.

Driver Pit Pass: The driver’s pit pass is included with the first entry. Be sure to sign up for additional passes for the team or family members.

Pay by Check: You can also register and pay by check or cash. If you plan to do this, please call or email to advise us. Your entry will remain in PENDING until payment is made.

Due to an $8 million downtown street/sidewalk renovation in Rock Island, this year’s race will, for the first time, feature a different race course. For those who have been here before, the area marked OPEN PIT AREA on the map is where the Start/Finish line was in previous years.

As announced earlier, there have been two changes in classes this year: Briggs & Stratton Light and Briggs Junior (ages 12-15) have been added in place of Briggs Novice and TAG Senior.

A lineup of classes for Shifter, Briggs & Stratton 206, Ignite, 100cc, Yamaha Can and vintage karts is being offered. King of the Streets open shifter and King of The Rock for Briggs 206 and 100cc racers will compete for guaranteed cash payouts for 1-2-3 of $1,000, $500 and $250 as well as a Rock trophy. To enter these races a driver must also enter a corresponding non-King class. Supplemental Rules are posted at racerockisland.info.

It was previously announced that Cory Simpson of Simpson Motorsports in St.  Louis will graciously provide a paid entry to the SKUSA SuperNats to winners of the King of The Streets shifter race and 100cc King of The Rock race. Simpson and Cup Karts North America will provide a paid entry to the CKNA Grand Nationals, the biggest 4 cycle event of the year, to the winner of the King of The Rock Briggs 206 race.

But that’s not all!!

* Ignite Senior 1 & 2 and Ignite Masters drivers now have the chance to win the Ignite Grand Prix Cup championship by competing at the Quincy Grand Prix, Elkhart Grand Prix and the final races at the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix Presented by The Hemp Doctor. Points will be assigned using the current Formula 1 points structure for places 1 through 10 with zero drops. The championship was created by Margay Racing and presenting sponsor is the Skip Barber Racing School which will present the Ignite Senior champion with a one-day formula car school, valued at $4,000.

* Rock Island has also announced it has partnered with the Southern Indiana Racing Assn. (SIRA) which will present free entries to the CERA Grand Prix Sept 28-29 and the all-new Indianapolis Speedrome Showdown Oct. 19-20 to the winners of Rock Island’s Briggs 206 Junior, Medium, Heavy and Masters races and 100cc Senior and Open Shifter.

* On the flip side, Rock Island will award free entries for winners in Ignite Senior, Ignite Masters, 100cc Senior, Briggs 206 A, Briggs 206 B, Briggs 206 Masters, and 206 Junior at the Thor Elkhart Grand Prix, August 2-3, with one award per driver covering only entry fees. If a race winner has already received a free entry, that entry will go to second place.

Classes to be offered this year at Rock Island are:

• Margay Ignite Grand Prix Cup Senior 1 & 2 and Ignite Masters
• Open Shifter, Rok/Honda Shifter, Shifter Masters, and King of The Streets
• 100cc Senior for KA100, VLR and Yamaha Pipe; and 100cc King of The Rock
• Yamaha KT100 Can Heavy
• Vintage Open, Mac and Yamaha classes
• Briggs & Stratton Heavy 1&2; Medium 1&2, Light and Junior

All starting positions for Heat Races will be assigned based on timed qualifying during practice, with Heats determining starting positions in the Features.

Rock Island is located in an area known as the Quad-Cities, equally divided between Illinois and Iowa, with a metropolitan population of 400,000. The Grand Prix typically attracts race teams from coast to coast. There have been drivers from 10 foreign countries and 16 foreign winners. Last year saw more than 17,000 spectators over the 2-day event.
