The 2024 Route 66 Sprint Series began this past weekend, visiting the New Castle Motorsports Park. The three-day event was a battle with weather, as rain hit the New Castle, Indiana facility throughout Saturday to disrupt the qualifying and first round of heat races before the weather cleared out for the remainder of the event, including the second heats and main events on Sunday. Despite the weather obstacles, the series brought together 158 entries over nine classes, including the Kid Kart division.

This is the second season for the Route 66 Sprint Series under the ownership of Chris Kardashian. His focus on safe, family fun continues into the 2024 season and was excited about the opening weekend in New Castle.

“It was a great start to the 2024 season, with kart count was up by 15 % over 2023. We know we lost a few entries from weather and Prom, but the increase in numbers shows the interest is there in the Route 66 Sprint Series. Most rewarding is the feedback we received from racers, families, teams and mechanics that everyone is enjoying our format. The series continues to attract the club level drivers who have excelled as well as some of the top national talent in both our Briggs 206 and 2-cycle categories.”

The second stop for the 2024 Route 66 Sprint Series is scheduled for July 5-7 at the historic Whiteland Raceway Park. In addition to great racing at the historic Whiteland, Indiana facility, the series is focused on providing entertainment throughout the weekend for all children in attendance with the ‘Family Fun Zone’ plus entertainment for the entire family with Saturday night fireworks, a complimentary cookout, and several other activities and competitions.
