This year marks the 15th season of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy program, focused on providing a cost-effective international series for young drivers between the ages of 12 and 14. Countries from around the world, through their ASNs, select a driver to represent their nation in a three-round championship through Europe, all competing on spec OTK chassis and Vortex engines packages.

The list of notable names to be crowned champion in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy includes Charles Leclerc (2011), Callum Bradshaw (2016), and USA driver Connor Zilisch (2020). Hugo Marti from Spain earned the 2023 FIA Karting Academy Trophy championship to be the latest driver added to that list.

ACCUS – the ASN for United States – puts the selection for the FIA Karting Academy Trophy to USAC Racing. When applications were open in November for the 2024 program, 11 drivers submitted their resume to USAC in hopes of becoming the selection. After a difficult process of narrowing down the applicants, USAC Racing selected Turner Brown as the 2024 FIA Karting Academy Trophy representative for the United States of America.

The 12-year-old from Alamo, California completed his third season in karting during 2023, making history last season. After two years at the Cadet level, Brown established himself as one of the top drivers at the level toward the end of the 2022 season. Entering 2023, Turner was among the Junior rookies racing with Speed Concepts Racing. His pace improved throughout the season, eventually earning victories in Superkarts! USA and United States Pro Kart Series competition along with podium at the ROK Cup USA ROK Vegas event. It was at the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 26 where Brown etched his name in the record books, becoming only the third driver in SuperNationals history to win two classes in the same event – X30 Junior and KA100 Junior. Turner already has a victory to his credit for 2024, winning at the SKUSA Winter Series opener in January.

“I am super excited to fly the banner for Team USA in the FIA Academy Cup. It’s an honor and a big step in my racing career towards the final goal of being a professional driver. I can’t wait to travel overseas for the first time for karting. I would like to say thank you to everyone that has helped get me here. I’m ready to be a candidate for the USA and will make them proud. I hope to bring many good results back home. A big shout to the Speed Concepts Racing for putting me here and working towards this goal with me. Thank you to my sponsors Molecule, Pickett Racing and Offset.”

The opening event of the 2024 FIA Karting Academy Trophy is set for April 25-28 at the Circuit du Val d’Argenton in France. The second event is slated for the Slovak Karting Center in Slovakia on June 20-23. The series finale will take place on August 1-4 at the Asum Ring in Sweden.

When not competing at the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, Brown will be joining a new team – Rolison Performance Group – competing at the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour and United States Pro Kart Series events along with the Las Vegas year-end races.
